Some people are just so odd...

My mom told me that one of her friends went to BB&B to buy me stuff for my shower, and apparently one of the things on my registry she didn't like, so she bought the one that she liked instead Isn't that odd....I mean, I made my registry because I wanted people to buy me the things I WANT ...not what they want! now, I have a gift coming to me that wasn't even on my registry to return! Some people.......

my aunt tried to do that for my SIL's baby shower. i went to babies r us w them and she said she didn't like the baby bag SIL registered for and she was all set to buy her one SHE liked...i had to explain to her that if she does that, not only would my SIL be upset b/c it wasn't the one she wanted, but someone else will probably buy the baby bag SIL registered for, and she will never use the one my aunt wanted to buy. so as not to waste money she bought the one on the registry but she groaned about it for the rest of the day.

i don't get it...people are so in their own worlds. but at least you can return it right?! sorry, that stinks!

okay - here's the OTHER angle on this....

maybe the thing you registered for - she had and had lots of issues with it.

Yes it's odd - but wait until the shower - i'm sure she'll explain what's up...

I was surprised by how many people stuck to our registries for our e-party.

we maybe got gifts from 4-5 people that weren't from our registry and kept most of it. We invited a BM's mom who I've known since I was a baby, and she gave us a 'pizza themed' gift separate from my friend. A pizza stone, pizza cutter, pizza server, these adorable triangular pizza plates with pizza box designs on them, and a pizza slice shaped tupperware! It's so cute and thoughtful even though we hadn't registered for any of that stuff. We use it all the time except for the pizza stone.

We actually did have someone buy us a different ice bucket than we registered for. I think ours was $5 more. Then someone bought us the one we registered for, just like you said. We returned them both because we realized we have no room or immediate need for one, but we will probably rebuy it down the road.

that is completely strange what is the point of having a registry if people are going to buy you something different off of it or something they prefer- sorry i would have been a little irritated at that

It's funny but the ladies at Fortunoff told us about this. How people come in ALL the time and complain how they don't like the things on the bride's registry so they buy whatever they want, and then the brides have to lug back all this stuff and get what THEY wanted.

that is very odd indeed! I wonder what goes through someones head when they make a decision like that ???

So far, I have received several gifts from, my registry ( My shower is 5 months away!) , and only one gift that I have not registered for, and that was a check ( so it was NO problem there)

People definitely buy you something they would want.

I got almost all my gifts from my registry but it was kind of funny who bought which things.

One friend is a big partier and likes to host functions, she got me the punch bowl. Another friend comes from 100% Italian family and got me the pasta bowl set.

I think you do it subconsciously too....yeah I totally don't understand the getting a different version of the same thing on the registry. Good thing you can return

People really don't understand that because they like it you won't. Just think of all the holiday and bday gifts you've received because people loved it and got it for you.
