Some questions

Some questions

1- do I tip the limo drivers? How much?
2- when tipping maitre de, I think it is $2 a head. Is that right? Does that include tip for waiters and the person that helps with the reception overall, or is that over and above what I give maitre de?
3-do i tip the priest? I think he will be the church's pastor, do I still tip over and above the church fee?
4-Who gives me the placecards? Do I order from where I get my invites or does the reception hall give them to me? We are not doing anything fancy with them, at this point we cannot afford to.

I think we might not be able to afford Hawaii after all. I'm so depressed.

Edited to say: Thanks for all the advice. And...I am happy to report that Hawaii is back on! I redid our budget and we are doing well and we actually don't have that much farther to do to save all we need to save! I'm sooooooooooo relieved!

I don't know about all the tipping questions, but I juts wanted to say that if you can't afford Hawaii now, it would make a wonderful 1 year anniversary trip! So you will get there, don't worry!

I was married in June and we still haven't honeymooned yet. Probably not till the winter sometime...Don't worry...it's not the worst thing in the world!

Re: Some questions

Rachel,
Yeah, thought of that but we want to start saving for a house and buy one as soon as we can. Thank you for the suggestion

I don't like saying this because it sounds tacky, but I hope we get a nice sum of $ for wedding gifts to help us with all our expenses.

Re: Some questions

My limo tip was included in the price...but we gave an additional $50 to each.

I gave my maitre'd $2 for each guest. That was the only person at my hall that I had to tip. The tips for the wait staff was worked into my contract.

I did not tip my priest. I don't think that this is necessary. We gave a $500 'donation' to the church. We tipped our alter servers $25 each.

I got my placecards from my photographer (they had our e-pic on them). Most people get them from their reception place.

Re: Some questions

the limo company already adds a 20% but if you think they were really good, then tip each driver like $50.

placecards, some halls include them, otherwise you can order them with your invites or pick them up at a local staples

the matrd D' should be tipped ($1-$3 per guest)

with the church... you should tip your alterboys(the church doesnt give them any money).. $20 each would be good..(there are 2)...
and I believe priests do get tipped(ours is coming from MA to do ours so were giving him $100)

Re: Some questions

1. Yes, you should tip the limo driver's (my cousin is alimo driver ) I would say $50 is good.

2. I would tip the MD about $2 per head. The tip for staff is usually included in the price akthough it never hurts to give someone a little extra if you think they did a great job!

3. If you're marrying in a church I would not tip the priest above the 'donation' price.

4. You can get placecards that match your invitations, you can get place cards from favor and accessory places on line, I've even seen place cards at Staples, but traditionally the placecards come from your reception site.

Good luck!

Chris
