So..i've only been engaged a little over 2 weeks and i'm already seeing things I like, like a wedding gift card box, place card holders, and a cake topper. I just want to buy them!
I know that it's early for me and there is a ton of time to see other things I like over time but then on the other hand, I like to 'get things done' and check these smaller items off my list and not have to worry about them later when I'll have bigger payments to worry about.
Can anyone else relate to this??

Trust me I know what you think. I just ordered my card box. But you really have to wait to know what your theme or colors are going to be. The RH may help you with the theme or color also (ie. if it is on the water you may do a nautical theme).
What I have been doing is printing out things I like and I made a binder which I put them into.
I do plan on doing and buying things little at a time so that I do not have to pay for everything at once.
I would recommend (if you have not done so already) to make a budget so that you know what you are working with. Include in it anything that someone else is paying for but indicate that it is being paid by someone else.

Printing out the pictures is a good idea..this way i'll have the website or store name on it so I won't forget...i think i'm just getting over excited
The budget is slowly coming along. The items I seem to gravitate towards are more on the plain side, items that could probably fit with any theme which is a good thing in case I have a moment of weakness

I agree with Mara. You should wait until you have your RH, budget and theme figured out. I got engaged in September and just bought our channa plaque, guest book, and card box. I know it's hard to wait you must be so excited! I know I was the same way!!

Also you will see that you will get a lot of great ideas from here and where you may think you want one thing when you seen something else on here you may change your mind.
That happened to me for the guest book. I originally thought that I was going to make a guest book with my engagement pictures but then I saw someone post about doing a Yankees Jersey and I knew that I had to use a Mets Jersey with my married name for the guests to sign!

I feel your pain!!! I just try to research things and keep a folder on my computer of ideas and pictures...most of the time I find something totally different then what I first picked out, you never know when youre going to find something better, something different or cheaper, so try to hold off.

Ive had to refrain myself I know how you feel!! I am so comfortable with not booking anything that Im scared when it is going to be crunch time LOL! But i just keep telling myself that once you book you have to put deposits down... so Im trying to wait it out--not sure how much longer that will last!!!!!!

dont worry girl!! But defiantly think things through and only buy them if you are absolutely in love and are not sure if they will still be available closer to your date. I have changed my mind about EVERYTHING about 100 times!!..and im sure I will change it another 100 times or so!!
Enjoy the feeling of just being engaged...things start to move very quickly once you start booking vendors

I can totally relate, trust me i ordered stuff online and hid them from FH and then he would find them and be like REALLY LOL just buy the little stuff and worry about the big stuff later.

LOL..i'm FORCING myself to prioritize!! My tasks for the next 2-3 weeks are going to be to:
-visit about 4-5 RHs
-hopefully pick a place and set a date.
one thing at a time right??

lol we can ALL relate to wanting to jump into planning early, hence why a 2012 thread has existed for like 2 years already!
I def agree w/ the other girls, wait and see what your final theme will be b/c you will prob change your mind 2000 times! PLUS girls on here are always scouting out deals you can take advantage of or getting rid of their wedding stuff after their big day and you can score majorly

I know where you are coming from.. Ive been engaged almost two years already and a 3.5 yr engagement is making my crazy!!! I have to admit my card box has been bouugh.. my mom got it from michaels bc I fell in love with it.
I would buy things if I wanted.. just be sure they are what u want bc u might change ur mind and end up getting another one anyway..
I even have a folder on my laptop of things i want to register for lmaoo

Its overwhelming to think about everything that you have to do and then its exciting because all of this stuff is so much fun! I started a binder to keep the pics and ideas I see in magazines and then I'm saving stuff I see here in the notebook so I can go back to it when I'm ready to check it out.
Make a timeline so you can decide on what needs to be done when so you don't get too far ahead of yourself. That way you don't regret buying anything too soon without making other decisions, or doing the research to see if you can get a better deal.

that's how I feel! a FULL 2 year engagement SEEMS so long! I know I am going to need all the time but then I also feel like I should be buying little things along the way. I'm pretty picky with what I like too so I feel like when I find something I love, I just want to get it and call it a done deal.
For example, with this gift card box i'm loving, I've really only seen a couple of designs: The bird cage, treasure chest, wedding cake and some satin gift bags. The unique one I found would really go well with ANY theme I choose and that's what's making it sooo tempting to just go ahead and get!
