I have a job interview in the city for a music summer camp job, and it's right after I teach during the day. Yeah I could use mass transit but driving is much more direct.
Can someone talk me out of this crazy fear?
I'm the type that drives into Queens and parks there and then takes the subway in....
Anyone else this terrified?

The traffic should be light going into the city at night. You'll be ok. Just remember that it's for a new job!! good luck on the interview

Upper East Side...E 91st. I have no idea where to park!
Also remember- I live and work in NJ so I'm coming from there. So I still gotta head across town once I make it in.
Might not be worth the extra stress since it's kind of foreign to me...don'tcha think?
here are the directions Take the NJ Turnpike over the George Washington Bridge to enter upper Manhattan at west 179th Street. Take the first exit — 9A/Henry Hudson Parkway — to the right. Take Henry Hudson Parkway to West 96th Street exit and cross the park on 96th Street. For the First Program, turn right onto Park Avenue and then right onto 91st Street.

I totally get you, driving in the city can be a lil mind blowing. Will they have a lot where you can park?? if not you might want to stick to your norm and park in Queens. The parking rates in the city are INSANE If they do have parking then I agree, traffic in the evening is a heck of a lot better than in the AM. You can do it

Re: Someone slap me out of my fear...
I used to be until we were driving into Jersey one day and I wasn't paying attention, just following directions and boom I was driving in the city. At first I was white knuckled! But then 20 min later, I was wondering why I was so terrified?!?!?!?! I'm OK with it now, I think it is the idea of it.

I used to be afraid too...driving in the city is a daunting task, but where you're going will be fine...you'll probably find street parking...just make sure to leave yourself lots of extra time...

TOTALLY! in the area where you'll be if it's at a parking meter, it's 25 cents for 10 minutes!! bring quarters!! give yourself LOTS of time, parking on the UES can be horrendous at any time! you might even have to park in one of the expensive a parking lots!
if you can just park in queens, def do it! manhattan isn't worth the anxiety right before a job interview!!

Re: Someone slap me out of my fear...
My sister lives on 91st between 1st and 2nd. There's a parking garage on that block. Go up 1st, turn left on 91st, and the garage is on your left. Just go to the end of the LIE and through the tunnel. I hate driving in NYC and even I can handle it!
Sorry, just realized you're coming from Jersey, and there's going to be a park in your way if you take my directions. Anyway, just go across Manhattan south of Central Park then go up. Otherwise you get Squares and Parks and stuff in the way. Think of it as only having to make 2 turns.

Oh at least you wont be going through midtown.. up there is like queens or driving in Hoboken.. midtown I can see you being stressed but from there you will be fine.
