Someone's gettting married in NY this weekend and having 800 guests!
Yesterday, I called a company that makes special order golf umbrellas. They are localed down south. I wanted a red, white and blue one (just in case) for the wedding.
The customer service rep asks me when I need them by because they just got a special order for 800 earlier from a wedding planner in NY! I told him I don't think I know 800 people, nor do I want to ever feed that many.
800! That's about $10,000 just for umbrellas

its very possible that it could be an indian wedding. the highest number of guests that i've heard at an indian wedding is 1200!!

Yes, my FILs went to an Indian wedding a couple of years ago, and it was hundreds of people. It lasted 3 days (apparently that was the abbreviated version) and one of the days they had something at the house. There were so many people that there was a huge line outside waiting to get inside the house, and my FILS literally had to wait for a few hours!

It could also be an orthodox Jewish wedding (assuming it is not on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon). They have hundreds as well. So often that they have charities that raise money to finance women's weddings.

omg!!!! could you imagine that? how do you say thank you to everyone? at the reception i would just get on the microphone and say THANK YOU ALL..wow...what about sending thank yous???

One of my firends whose Indian was invited to a wedding in Alabama with guests over 1,000 people and they are paying for hotel accomodations for their guests for the entire 3 day weekend!!1

We're expecting around 800 people too.
My dad's the senior pastor of a church of 2,000 members so we're expecting many of them to show up. It's open invite to the ceremony and (Korean food buffet) reception for all of the adults on the Korean side of the church. For our close friends and siblings, FH and I are paying for a separate reception for around 125 people.

my uncle in the philippines is getting married next year and his guest list is around 800. luckily, the cost per plate is around $4.00 u.s. dollars, 'bout the cost of a mcdonald's meal. hmmmm, maybe shoulda gotten married there!

If FH, myself, and my families invited everyone we are related to, and anyone we have ever been friends or worked with, I still don't think we would hit 800! I can't fathom that size, but wish them well.

My Indian coworder said she had a very small wedding of 500!!!!
