So yesterday I met with Jennifer because my nerves are off the charts. I am the first bride having my reception in the Somerley and its a few weeks away! When I went, all i saw was a huge tractor, cement and thats it!!!! My father keeps telling me that its not going to be ready and from the looks of it, it does not look like anything is really done BUT Jennifer assured me that the hard part is over and that it will be ready by the end of March. I am almost thinking of changing my room to the Garden Terrence. I don't know if i want to be the first bride ( i have written too many posts ). Should i change my room or just wait and wait as usual and hope what was promised happens? Any advice would help. I want to be able to walk in the room and come up with ideas and feel the energy. Its so hard to do that with the mock video. Am I being too paranoid? I mean my wedding is nine weeks away! Did you hear anything?

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
I know this isnt the most reassuring answer but honestly they will be in deep sh*t if the room is not done, they will probably give you so many extras and what not and since they are a catering hall with more than one room, they will absolutely haveee to accommodate you in another room, no one elsse is going to book that room only a month in advance, so if thats the one you want its available now you will be able to have it there.
There is definitely a chance it will still be in the room under construction though, unless your father is a contractor or something i wouldn't freak out, the cosmetic stuff takes minutes compared to structural, everyone has seen those houses around the block or something where you're like 'wow last week this thing was like 3 walls, now its almost done'

ITA. My sister had her sweet 16 at Larkfield Manor and the morning of we dropped all of the CPs off and all of the floors and carpets were being redone - 7 hours before the party!!!! we started freaking out on the people and they reassured us that everything would be done on time.
when we got there, it was as if there was never construction going on. AMAZING! i don't know how they do it, but they do!

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
The other room might not be free due to a Bat Mitzvah, Sweet 16, or anything along those lines, even if they only do 2 weddings at a time.
As for the room being ready, I can understand what you are scared about. I would say that you should give them until the first weekend in April before you try to change your room. I work in construction and when things need to be done, things are done and look great. I was married at JT and booked the room with sheetrock and temp lighting. I was nervous how the room would turn out and that it wouldn't be ready for the first bride. It was ready with time to spare and it came out better then any expectations I had. Maybe talk to Jennifer again and ask when the due date of the room is going to be ready. Don't give it another thought until that date she gives you (I think you said the end of March). THEN I would go thre and see if the room is ready, you'll have a better feel of what the final product will be (in case they have some twecking to do)

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
Hello ladies,
Well, i am furious. I went this weekend and although i saw some construction i am not convinced. I was so happy with Fox Hollow and now i feel like i have been robbed from my bridal experience. My wedding is in six weeks! I suppose to have a new bridal suite, a new cocktail room and a new bathroom and nothing appears near what is promised. Sure i keep speaking to people that are promising that it will be ready-but for me it does not feel like it. I have been told this since i booked A YEAR AGO. I was told that it was going to be ready in May 2010 and then every month after that. I feel like the stress is killing me and i am suppose to pay in full with no discount? I can't even go in my room and soak it in. I was lied to and not to mention that the bridal manager Frank that booked me is no longer working there and no one bothered to tell us. I had to find out months later. So you want to hear the worse? Well, i find out that they did book another party in the Garden Terrence. That means there will be 3 parties at once and i won't be able to change my room after i was told by many that if it wasn't built like they said and its not what they expected, that i had the option at anytime to change the room because they only do two events at once. I really enjoyed my experiences at Fox Hollow but now I think we have every right to be upset. I am sure it will be built and it will look nothing like the photos because they are going to rush it and they probably fired Frank because he booked too many people too quickly?
Now what? I have no plan B. Also, you may notice that when i made this post i mentioned that they told me it is going to be ready in the end of March. Well now i am told that it will be ready April 16th. I mean come on. If you track all my old posts, I mention months in 2010 and 2011 that it will be ready because thats what i am told every time i call and then the date changes. Let this be a lesson learned that you shouldn't book a room you hadn't seen yet. Just don't do it!
P.S Everyone sounds really nice and they have not lost respect for my fiance and I. I hate to be upset but you understand right?

Mel,
I am so sorry to hear this. I can't believe that your back-up room has been booked and they never gave you a chance. I'd write to the head of Scotto Brothers themselves. Everything will work out for you in the end.

I'm so sorry they are toying with you like this! I'm going to pray that everything works out for you. No bride deserves to go through what you're going through. I hope everything works out!

I am SOOOO PISSED for you!!! I went into Fox Hollow and FH and I didn't want to book a room we couldn't see, and they were pushing us to look at the virtual room. I thought it was beautiful, but I we didn't book due to price and the fact that we didn't think the work would have been done in time for our wedding (hint: we went to visit superbowl sunday 2010).
I am feel so sorry to hear that you are going through this so close to your wedding day! You are in my prayers and my thoughts

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
Crest Hollow just rennovated the whole back yard and a few rooms. I was so nervous that it wouldn't be ready in time, but I swear, they had like reception hall fairies, it was done SO FAST, they assured me as well and it was great. I would ask them that for some reason if it is not ready, would you be able to use another room that night. Ask now before it is booked!

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
imo - it will be ready
the 'pretty' part of the room is easy. in a week they can paint, tile, mold, Spackle, and buff everything
the 'hard part' is getting the room 'architecturally sound'
Ever seen those shows where they redo everything one week...
or even that show extreme makeover' home edition
trust me 9 weeks is PLENTY of time to get that room PERFECT for your wedding.
there isn't probably a delay either.. they just have stuff scheduled and funded for set times.
For your sanity get a 'spare room' just incase but I'm 100% sure it will be BEAUTIFUL and READY for your wedding date

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
We got a phone call from one of the owners, Michael Maurantonio! They are being extremely supportive and it seems like everything will go right, considering they know Fox Hollow's reputation will be crushed and LOTS of money will be lost. No one wants a lawsuit. This would be a very BIG one. Thanks ladies for all your support. I have to say, based on the contact and updates from the big guys, it proves that they are working really hard and will not disappoint. Of course the stress isn't something that will disappear but as long as the day flows beautifully and all that is promised is given, then the stress would be all my fault for building anxiety and thinking the worse. We shall see.

I'm glad to see things are sounding better and you seem a little more relaxed. I'd still follow through with a letter to Mr. Scotto, just sharing your concerns. You at least deserve some free extras at your wedding for your stress :) I'm a Scotto bride at Westbury Manor and Jerry Scotto (the brother owner over there) has been very quick to respond to emails/calls and willing to do anything to keep his brides happy and i'm sure Fox Hollow's Scotto will feel the same way. Good luck!!!

I am so sorry that you are going through this, I can't imagine the stress you are feeling right now.
IMO, with all of the properties that they own on Long Island, I would make sure that they reserve something for you as a backup. Preferably at the Fox Hollow, but they should make something available for you at one of their other locations should something not go according to plan. I know it would help me sleep better at night...
Best of Luck to you!

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
I also have the Somerley room. My fiance and I went to check it out two weekends ago. Only half of the room was done. It looked like they had some progress (I have been checking on it as well) . They explained that because of all the snow this winter, they had a hard time keeping to the schedule. Also, the pipes froze and something about needing a permit from the town to work on it in inclement weather. That said, I find it a bit troubling that your wedding date is so close and they are saying it will be done in April?! Seems like they should give you a stress-related discount ... They really should do something for you. You should ask for it. Was it in your contract that you could have Garden Terrace as a back up? I hope everything works out for you.
