So yesterday I met with Jennifer because my nerves are off the charts. I am the first bride having my reception in the Somerley and its a few weeks away! When I went, all i saw was a huge tractor, cement and thats it!!!! My father keeps telling me that its not going to be ready and from the looks of it, it does not look like anything is really done BUT Jennifer assured me that the hard part is over and that it will be ready by the end of March. I am almost thinking of changing my room to the Garden Terrence. I don't know if i want to be the first bride ( i have written too many posts ). Should i change my room or just wait and wait as usual and hope what was promised happens? Any advice would help. I want to be able to walk in the room and come up with ideas and feel the energy. Its so hard to do that with the mock video. Am I being too paranoid? I mean my wedding is nine weeks away! Did you hear anything?

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
Is the Garden Terrace available? Unless you totally had your heart set on Somerly, why not just have peace of mind. Garden Terrace is gorgeous, anyway.

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
I believe the room is available because they only do two weddings at once right?? I hope! The other bride is getting married in the Winter Garden. So if they only do two weddings at once, I would think the Garden Terrence and the Briar room is available. I hope so!! Oy! When I asked Jennifer if something goes wrong will i have the Garden Terrence, she said nothing will go wrong and that she doesn't want to talk about the Garden Terrence because my contract says The Somerley! Ha! Ayayayaya. At this point i am very close to changing it, so i can relax but i don't want to miss an opportunity like being the first in the new room and it being awesome! Stuck.

Oh, i didn't know they were 1 at a time. Are you sure about that? I'd contact immediately just to make sure this is an option.

They do two weddings the most. They don't do more than two

My work deals with new hotel builds, and you would be amazed by how much construction can be completed in a few short weeks! I'm sure everything will end up being finished in time. However, the unforseen does occur and if I was you, I would request for your BM to update your contract that if for some reason the room is not completed for your wedding that an alternate room at the Fox Hollow will be available to hold your reception.

There could be something else in the room, though. Make sure it's available before you spin your wheels trying to decide about switching.

When companies do Construction unless weather interferes they can usually get it done very quickly. If you are still worried I would make them guarantee a diff room or area for you so that you have the option there already in case it is not finished.

In my opinion I would check to see if another room is available. Who needs that type of additonal stress?
While it would be nice to be the first bride it's risky not to know if the room will be ready. Have they given you an alternative if it is not ready?
I remember when I was an RA in college we had 750 kids moving into new dorms. A week before they were not ready!!!! People were scrambling and trying to get everything together.

I am a Somerley Bride! I was hoping to hear that they made more progress than that! I guess all the crazy snow slowed them down. If I was the first one I would want them to guarantee an alternate room just in case. Good Luck and keep us posted!

I believe the room will be ready. I know I was asking Jennifer, can I get the Somerley room for my wedding day. Because I was told when I signed my contract nine months ago, it wasn't going to be build by then. But she was telling me, how you were really excited about being the first bride and she didn't want to take that away from you, which I understand. I really believe, they will have the room ready. I know it is making your nervous, I think you should stay positive, and think good thoughts.

They wouldn't let you book it unless they were confident that it WILL be done!

Thanks for all your advice!! You all are awesome. I didn't even think about renewing the contract. I will do it right away. Once I get that down, everything should work out either way.
Loriane, if you wanted to be the first bride i would not have a problem at all!!! I actually did not want to be the first bride because i didn't want to be the test run, you know?

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
I'm not a fox hollow bride but I can tell you from my experience that they most likely will be done and it will be beautiful. I got married in a room at Crest hollow that had just been redone (i was the first bride to be in there) and the week before my wedding i saw it with cement (carpet had been ripped up) the ceiling was being redone, and a new dance floor was being put down....this was literally 7 days before and it was done and beautiful...so i think you will be fine! of course, if it will give you piece of mind and that's something that you really need right now, then go for changing it to the garden terrace.

They usually only do two weddings. So stick with you original idea and worst case scenario you can switch rooms a week before because that room won't be sold.

Re: Somerley Brides at Fox Hollow
I watch enough HGTV to know that it won't take more than 5 weeks to get this done. If you want, go back next week to see progress and also adjust your contract.
