honestly if you are not having a buffet it doesn't really matter. because then no one is waiting to get the food. when u have a sit down dinner all the table numbers are for are, so guests know where to sit & so the servers know what tables they are serving.
as far as who goes at table 1 its, the brides family.
We are not having a buffet but I still feel as though everyone might feel ranked. Love these ideas!!!

we are doing an old hollywood themed wedding and our table numbers will just be famous old actors such as marilyn monroe, bob hope, frank sinatra, etc

This is actually a very interesting idea. I wonder if my and my FW could incorporate this for our own reception. We are convention junkies and we've been to so many conventions (we met and got engaged at one as well) that I would lov eot name the tables after them.

Since I'm having my wedding @ a Vineyard, we're doing all different types of wines: Shiraz Pinot Noir Cabernet Merlot

My friend did words like faith, hope, love, etc in italian.
I think since I'm really big pn photography I'm going to incorporae pictures somehow. Either places that are special to us, or we also love Disney, so maybe pics of us diff places at Disney. So one tabel can be 'Cinderella's Castle' 'Spaceship Earth' 'The Tree of Life' 'California Grill' etc.
Or maybe Broadway shows, or couples from Broadways shows.
You could also do love songs, and then print the lyrics on the other side of the table number
'Some Enchanted Evening' 'Only you' 'At last'
etc.

The wedding is about you... so the tables should reflect you...
I'm thinking of doing places that have sentimental value to my FH and I's relationship, places or things of importance throughout our relationship... pick places you spend a lot of time in, or places where significant events happened like travel, proposal, meeting place, favorite date spot...
