Re: Something Blue card

I read somewhere that you can ask a person to be your something blue over having an item. You can pick someone special in your life that may have not been in your bridal party. You ask them to either wear blue or a blue flower to represent on the day.

I saw a really cute poem to give them in a card and can't find it. I didn't know about notebook then!

Re: Something Blue card

I did this :)

Here is the letter I used:

In my life I have been fortunate enough to find myself surrounded by some amazing friend who have shaped me into who I am today. As I prepare for a milestone in my life, I wanted to recognize how important you have been in getting me to this point. So I ask..

Will you be my something blue?

A something blue attends my wedding as her fabulous self, wears something blue that makes her feel beautiful, participates in the cfelebration and joins me for a photo shoot for posterity a few hours before the wedding.

I hope you will be able to participate in our special day as recognition of how important you have been in my life.

Re: Something Blue card

Sorry I'm confused on the whole 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'... what exactly is it? Just objects that you wear/bring with you on your day?

Yes or it can be anything you want. So far I have:

Old - not sure yet...
New - shoes
Borrowed - DOJ
Blue - working on this...

What is the point of it though? Is it supposed to bring good luck?

I'm really not sure! LOL Guess it's one of those old things carried through the years. I'm sure there is some meaning behind it.

Re: Something Blue card

Found this on-line:

Traditional brides incorporate something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in their weddings. Many brides are unfamiliar with the origin and meaning behind the old-new-borrowed-blue custom though. This tradition stems from an old English rhyme 'Something olde, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in your shoe.' Family members and the bride's attendants gave old, new, borrowed, and blue items and a sixpence to the bride as tokens of love on her wedding day for good luck just before her marriage. Today brides are working the old, new, borrowed, and blue objects into their weddings themselves. Here are some ideas for brides to personalize the old-new-borrowed-blue custom for their weddings.

This is a great idea!! My sister in law is not the bridesmaid type and was not too crazy about being a bridesmaid but she has been so supportive and has been more involved with the wedding and planning than my other girls. She even threw my shower! I wanted to find a special way to incorporate her into the wedding even though she is not a bridesmaid so I am going to ask her to be my something blue!
