Something Girly

Something Girly

If anyone is planning on doing something special for their bridesmiads.
I took them out yesterday for formal 'high tea' at Lady Mendl's Tea Salon near Union Square. It was a lot of fun, they serve you 5 course high tea with salad, finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, cake, chocolate strawberry, cookies and petite fors.

It's inside an old brownstone.

Very girly and lots of fun. Not too bad either on price $30 plus tax and gratuity. I'll probably take FMIL when she comes in from the UK next week.
Here's the link to take a peek:

I think it is a nice way to thank the girls. We hosted ours at one of my BM's home here in Manhattan, I had the food delivered. An awesome time was had by all. Thanks for sharing your pix

You are a doll - its perfect.

I would love to use it for a BP get together. Now I just got to find a thing to do with it - not a show, too $$ any ideas?

Susan, that sounds lovely...glad you had a wonderful time w/your BP. I know we really enjoyed the Tea that we had for Michele31. I had never been to a 'tea' before, and I would definitely go back!

Re: Something Girly

I think that there are a few places where you can get show tickets pretty cheap.
I know Stef took her girls to 'Cabaret'

The tea takes about 2 hours or so, so it still leaves tiem for an evening thing. You're so stuffed afterwards though that you wouldn't want it to be food related.

Maybe a manicure/pedicure thing?
Or a girly movie if one is playing...

Re: Something Girly

I made up a menu so that they would know what to expect in terms of food and sent it out with a teapot invite:

Annie
They're Fendi bags to go with their dresses. Extravagant, yes, but actually cheap compared to the amount of money these girls have spent to be in my bridal party, which I calculated has easily hit the $1000+ mark, between my bridal shower and the spa day they planned for my bachelorette party, plus their dressesm accessories, makeup, etc.. Not to mention all their time and effort. They're really a great group of girls. Super accomodating and as of now, have yet to cause me ANY stress that's related to my wedding. Not too many brides can say that about all their bridesmaids. And I have 5. I'm lucky and they more than deserve everything I did back.

That is wonderful!!! I love the menu!! How did you create it!!! Can you post a better copy? I Would love to do something like that for my bms! Did you attach it to the teapot invite?

Re: Something Girly

Just FYI, I got my Caberet tickets from www.hitshowclub.com

$92/tickets were $54 each. And if I had wanted to see another sort of show or not get orchestra seats, I could have saved even more.

My original idea was going to be a spa thing but that was crazy $$$!!

Re: Something Girly

I bought the invites at Kate's Paperie in Manhattan.
I believe they were $15 for 12.
You can also do an online search.
I found these which are similar:
Tea Party Themed Invites

The menu is just copied off the website and then laid out in MS Publisher. I think the font was Edwardian Script. I also used the images off the site.
Shouldn't be that difficult to do in MS Word either.

I am glad you had a nice time Susan. My girls took me for high-tea in Stonybrook as my bachlorette party. It was great. It is such a nice way to spend time with close friends.

I will happily be a bridesmaid for a red Fendi bag!!!

High tea is a great idea and exactly what my friends would expect from me (definitely the biggest girly girl of my friends!). Very nice!
