That is a truly special moment that you will never forget; a perfect way to honor and show respect to your father and to give him that memory....
You're very blessed to have such a loving and wonderful FH!

That was amazingly beautiful! I have tears rolling down my face. I to lost my father, but I was only 6. It was very difficult, but we all got through it together. I'm sure it means a lot for your father to know that you will be taken care of by the other man you love with all your heart!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Thank you all so much. Today I am at work trying to tie up loose ends with lesson plans so my classroom can run smoothly in the event that I am not at work next week. I am fortunate that my assistants are wonderful, patient and understanding women.

I am also fortunate to have a venue to express myself with the written word - LIW. Thank you all for being supportive and caring. It helps me to keep the peace that I need so much.

Oh wow...this reminds me of last november when my mom was in the hospital and my sister, brother, father and I had to make the decision that you and your family have to make now. My mom who was in the hospital with an infection in her lungs, liver cancer, and all her organs failing....was way beyond saving. The doctors kept telling us that there were other treatments that could help her, but that is because by law they arent allowed to say any different...but the nurses told my family the truth, and we believed them more, because they were treating for my mom 24 hours a day....Deciding the faith of someone that you love is probably the hardest thing that myself and my family ever had to do, and I don't wish that anyone has to go through that ever. In the end we decided to sign a do not resusitate, and the doctors and the nurses gave my mom an hour or two at the most. Well my mom did last and hour, two hours and then all night. She finally passed the next day at 7:04am. I will never forget this moment....Since november 8th 2004, things have been totally different, and I still cannot believe that she is gone. She was such a strong, amazing woman and she had such a big impact on my life and on anyone elses life that she touched....She will never be forgotten and she will always live on in my heart. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of my mom.

So basically I know where you are coming from...and I want to tell you - If you need to get your feelings out - you can talk to me...I know how you are feeling right now....

The story that you told was so real - and so familiar....I wish you and your FH the best...and I wish your mom and the rest of your family the best too. Things are going to be really hard for your mom now, and you and your family are going to have to be there for her all the time. My dad is doing ok, but that is because my sister spends a lot of time with him and Danielle and I try to do the same....

Scott

Scott thank you for sharing your story too. I am blessed with 3 wonderful siblings that will help each other and Mom to make this transition to a new stage of her life. It won't be easy as she herself just had triple bypass heart surgery over 2 months ago - both mom and dad were in the hospital at the same time. We are lucky to have had good parents. Maybe they will watch over us together.

You are very lucky to be able to tell your dad about your wedding. Both my parents and DH's had passed away before we met each other and it is sad for both of us that we never got to meet the other's parents. Although your dad's memory may not be great, he got to meet Ed and vice versa. Cherish the time you have left with him, it really is special.
