ive posted before about finding a song for my brother. now im trying to find a song for my stepdad. i did NOT want to do any special dances at all bc i get so sad at everyone else's weddings at that part but i felt i had to bc i didnt want to hurt any feelings. anyone know of a kind of general (not at all mushy) song to dance to? The only song i can think of is 'what a wonderful world' but i dont think i want that!

Well, this may be too mushy, but there's a fantastic song about a Stepfather, called 'He Didn't Have to Be' by Brad Paisley.
I LOVE Brad Paisley.

I danced with my stepfather to 'forever young' by Rod Stewart. I think its perfect for a stepfather, I love the part that says no matter which road you choose, I'll be behind you win or lose. Here are the lyrics:
FOREVER YOUNG (R. Stewart/J.Cregan/K.Savigar) May the good Lord be with you Down every road you roam And may sunshine and happiness surround you when you're far from home And may you grow to be proud Dignified and true And do unto others As you'd have done to you Be courageous and be brave And in my heart you'll always stay Forever Young, Forever Young Forever Young, Forever Young
May good fortune be with you May your guiding light be strong Build a stairway to heaven with a prince or a vagabond
And may you never love in vain and in my heart you will remain Forever Young, Forever Young Forever Young, Forever Young Forever Young Forever Young
And when you finally fly away I'll be hoping that I served you well For all the wisdom of a lifetime No one can ever tell But whatever road you choose I'm right behind you, win or lose Forever Young, Forever Young Forever Young ,Forever Young Forever Young, Forever Young For, Forever Young, Forever Young

He Didn't Have To Be by Brad Paisley
Album : Who Needs Pictures Submitted by : tas Corrected by : ~*~ Whitney ~*~ Rated : 9.7 (29 votes)
When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new, It always winds up feeling more like a job interview. My momma used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone Who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run.
I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old. He took my mom out to the movie, and for once I got to go. A few months later, I remember lying there in bed. I overheard him pop the question, And I prayed that she'd say yes
And then all of a sudden, oh it seemed so strange to me. How we went from somthings missing to a family. Looking back all I can say about all the things he did for me, Is that I hope I'm at least half the dad he didn't have to be
I met the girl that's now my wife about three years ago. We had the perfect marriage, but we wanted something more. Now here I stand surrounded by our family and friends, Crowded around the nursery window as they bring the baby in.
And now all of a sudden, oh it seems so strange to me. How we'd gone from somthings missing to a family. Looking through the glass, I think about the man that's standing next to me, And I hope I'm at least half the dad that he didn't have to be
And looking back all I can say about all the things he did for me Is I hope I'm at least half the dad he didn't have to be
Yeah, I hope I'm at least half the dad he didn't have to be
Because he didn't have to be
You know he didn't have to be

Re: Song for Stepfather
I have been looking for a non mushy song as well to dance with my stepfather with, I think we are going with:
Times Of Your Life Paul Anka
Good morning, yesterday You wake up and time has slipped away And suddenly it's hard to find The memories you left behind Remember, do you remember
The laughter and the tears The shadows of misty yesteryears The good times and the bad you've seen And all the others in between Remember, do you remember The times of your life (do you remember)
Reach back for the joy and the sorrow Put them away in your mind The mem'ries are time that you borrow To spend when you get to tomorrow
Here comes the saddest part (comes the saddest part) The seasons are passing one by one So gather moments while you may Collect the dreams you dream today Remember, will you remember The times of your life
Gather moments while you may Collect the dreams you dream today Remember, will you remember The times of your life Of your life Of your life
Do you remember, baby Do you remember the times of your life Do you remember, baby Do you remember the times of your life
