Songs for Ceremony
My cousin is going to sing a song during the processional in our ceremony. Any thoughts on what a nice song would be? It is a Catholic ceremony, but not in a church so we're really open to any type of music. My mom suggested Ave Maria.

Hi Gina, I don't have any suggestions for music for you, but I do have a couple of questions??? You're having a Catholic Ceremony outside of the church? Who's performing the ceremony for you? My fiance and I are Catholic but want to have a Catholic ceremony outside of the church. If you could give me some information I'd really, really appreciate it! Someone else on this board gave me a suggestion which I'm looking into. I'm open to other ideas too! Thanks so much!

I think Ave Maria is a good pick. I am probably going to ask my Aunt to sing Ave Maria during our processional as well. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Ave Maria is a beautiful song. 'Here I am Lord' is also very pretty, but may be good for the presentation of the gifts if you are having a full mass. Hope this helps!

Melissa - Songs for Ceremony
Melissa, my reception site gave us the name of two Catholic priests that do weddings there. They must belong to some ultra-liberal group, but they are Catholic. Neither could do it on my day, but they suggested someone else who was available. I'm having Father Humana, 516-868-2512. You can also call Father Henry Ferenbacher at 212-594-2069. He's the one that referred me and was SO nice on the phone. Another name is Fr. Gioia (don't ask me how to pronounce it!) at 212-673-8682. Good luck!!!!!

Gina S. - One more question!!!
Hi Gina S., Thanks so much for the info! I'll definitely give them a call! Can I ask you a really dumb question? I'm not a practicing Catholic, which I wish I was for all these years, but anyway, what do they do differently at a Catholic Ceremony rather than at a ceremony with an ordained minister? I know I should know this, but it's been a while! If you could let me know when you get the chance I'd appreciate it! Thanks again, it's a big help!

Gina S. - One more question!!!
I am about as knowledgeable of a Catholic as you are. I really don't know what the difference is. I guess a Catholic ceremony just follows the flow of a mass --but there is no communion even in a Catholic ceremony when it is outside of the church.Welcome New Vendors
