Songs to NOT play at Reception

What songs, or singers/bands are you putting on your 'don't play' list for your DJ/band?

I'm banning gangsta rap, Creed, Celine Dion, and Shakira (am I the only one who thinks her voice is like nails across a caulk board?).

Some songs I'm banning:
I Will Survive
YMCA
that stupid 'girlfriend' song by Avril Lavinge

am I missing any horrible songs? Let me know your choices!

How we're dealing with the questions of no crappy music is having a friend (and one of the guys in our klezmer band) take over the djing, and provide mp3/itune playlists for him to choose from, and enough music that he wouldn't have to dip into anything we don't want to hear. How we're managing requests is that we've put a song request line on our return cards, so we hope we'll have a bunch of stuff that people want to hear.

i'm trying to avoid the macarena, the chacha slide, all that stuff. we've got a fun crew that likes to dance, and hopefully they'll get off their a$$es and do it.

anything that a DJ would have to edit is definitly not been played - but i can tell you who will be played- MICHAEL BUBLE

absolutly banning last dance only because im tired iof hearing it! it is soo overplayed

im telling them no cheesy songs with group dances. And no rap- there will be old people there! I am going to give them more of a to play list than a do not play list. And if they do not play the stuff I want I will be very upset. :( But our DJ company seems to be very good and FH ahs worked with them so im not too worried.

FH is determined to not have 'Build me up buttercup' played. No idea why he's so against it. We are doing a different version of the electric slide. hee hee! Basically the electric slide without the 'electric slide' song.

If 'I like big butts' gets played I'm leaving!

ALL my BM's love Cotton Eyed Joe, and I've banned it!! Can't stand that song! However, I did not ban the Electric Slide, because my grandma loves that song...how could I deny her that?

IMO, basically any song that comes with a dance is a no-go for me. soooooo

No songs that have a specific dance (i.e., cotton eye joe, macarena, chicken noodle soup, the donkey...blah blah)

No rap

No heavy metal

No britney, j-lo, or anything too poppy

what i do like:

Sinatra, billy joel, christina agueliera, barry white, italian stuff, ummmmmmmmmmmmm idk....and def. no frikkin electric slide and grease!

No, Who let the dogs out!! I am so sick of that song. I have heard too much at dance and the childrens partys.

Ugh you know there's a problem when you're father starts singing that annoying hips song and starts dancing around. NOT a pretty site!!!!!

I'm going to agree with most of whats on here but I NEED meatloaf's 'paradise' as a kick back to my high school years :)

We've told all the DJ's we've talked to no 'cheese' I hate the dance line songs though I might allow FH to throw at least one in. Just don't expect me to get out there!!!!
