sooo angry! (nwr)

sorry girls. i need to vent because i am fuming!

so i come home and get my mail today and there is a summons from the court in my mail box

so i check and its for two unpaid tickets for $120...so of course im like ***...so i call to find out what they are for.

both tickets are at 8:30am and 1:30pm during working hours (i work 8-4)!!!! AND i don't leave work to go for lunch and my work isn't near those locations and I wasn't even there...one was by a hospital. I dont even know anyone that's sick!!!! and one is on some road that I've never even heard of or know how to get to!

the lady on the phone was sooooo rude to me. she's like there's no error on our part. your car was there whether u were or not. and if u cant make it on monday at 6pm tough luck for you.

um maybe the cop read the plates wrong??? and possibly made an error? but no...she said they are NEVER wrong. i want to punch her!

so now its my word against the judge i guess. i guess im going to get my vp to write me something on letterhead and see if my manager can sign it too...to at least bring something!!!!!

I actually had a similiar situation happen to me. It was my license plate number and when I asked for the information on the ticket the car description was different. It was a completely different car (model and color). I would suggest calling up and asking for a copy of both tickets (or at least the info on the tickets) to make sure ALL of the details on the ticket are correct (or wrong) because it could be the same situation where they mistakenly wrote the wrong license plate number and got you by accident. But if they have all of your information on the ticket correctly, then you are liable to pay or show up in court. I know how much that *****!

They definitely make mistakes. My mom parked in a bus stop for 2 minutes to get a cup of coffee, and got a ticket. Totally her fault. But, let's say her license plate was AAA 1111. The cop who wrote the ticket wrote AAA 1121. One digit off. So she threw it away. And the next week when she went to nyc.gov to see if she had any outstanding tickets, it said she did not. So the person with the other license plate, who did nothing wrong, obstensibly owes the money (hope it's not you!)

I'm a little embarrassed that she did this, but it was a $125 ticket, and she wasn't going to call 311 or anything and say, 'look, you made a mistake, I should be paying you $125, here you go.'

So - yes, they make mistakes! they're human. I hope you don't have to pay a dime. Good luck!

There have been MANY complaints as of late with parking tickets being wrong. I know there is website and hotline for this type of thing. I would check the description on the ticket as everyone said but also put a complaint it and maybe i can find that website.

sorry,
i got one from the town of hempstead for 2 unpaid parking tickets from 1998!! both were from the day before my sister's wedding
i called them and told them that the IRS only makes you hold onto paperwork for 7 years, this is absurd!!!

That really stinks! Hopefully the letter will help so they know that you were no where near those locations. Good luck!

this happened to someone I know but I forgot some of the details. They ended up throwing out the ticket because it was clearly a mistake. We were upstate in albany getting educated and apparently my roommates car magically hung out in an illegal spot in brooklyn! Go to court, I'm sure they'll dismiss it

thanks everyone!!!! i was just mad at the lady for being sooo rude and saying they OBV dont ever make mistakes...because its mineola...she cant say the same for other towns. and im like oh please.

im going to double check with my boss her hubby is a lawyer. its just annoying. i mean its not like a ridiculous amount....120...but still i dont want to pay for something i didnt do!

so now im going to waste my time going to court! i have to remember to be nice to the judge

thats really ridiculous...that would be a good idea...to bring proof from your employer stating you were at work on those days..

I saw something on the news about this...it's a scam. It might have been on a few weeks ago. It was about traffic cops just randomly typing license plates to make their quotas. One guy got a ticket for a car that was broken down in his driveway. Maybe like 7 on your side proved he wasnt there and they dropped the tickets. Pursue it!!! Good Luck

Ok I think it's an error in Handwriting!!! And maybe there was dirt on the other license plate and the wrote the wrong thing.

Have them make a copy of ur time card if u have one!

I would have your job write somethign statig you were there. Or if you have time cards that you punch in with maybe you can get a copy of it??? I would fight it. It probably is a mistake. And probably the cop was off by 1 letter or # on the original. Just find out if you can ge a letter or time card or soemthing and bring it with you.
