How many cancellations did you get once you already had all your RSVPs in?
My friend who just got married told me to hold off doing seating charts as long as possible because she drove herself crazy redoing them after getting several cancellations

we had one about 2 weeks before , one of my parents friends husband's was diagnosed w/ cancer and they needed to start treatment...
and another was one of my bridesmaids the day of, she was in the hosptial w/ a nasty infection!
we also had 1 person not show up and haven't heard anything from them since which is SOOOO weird...
but i told them i was having 170, when i knew i was having 175 and it actually worked out PERFECTLY!

Just three...my grandma's cousin had to have surgery so her and her two kids didn't come.

I had one the day before, and one of my friend's boyfriends was a no show the day of.
When I gave our final count in, I made it about 7 people less. We got lucky and didn't have to pay for the 'extra' people.
HOWEVER, 3 people from DH's side who RSVP'd NO showed up at the wedding....AFTER dinner was served. My FIL insisted that they be fed; I was so mad! Needless to say, we had to pay $375 for them to eat a piece of filet mignon. I was pi$$ed!
I had my seating all done, but those 7 people I excluded I had seating cards for, I just held them behind until we got to the wedding.

a total of 6 cancellations after we made our final payment and the wedding is saturday. 2 cancellations before then (my aunt has to have surgery, but we knew).
Of the 6 that we paid for, 2 are medical related and good excuses and the other 2 are FH's friend and the friend's GF who basically flaked

I had 4 cancellations about a week and a half/2 weeks before, 2 cancellations the morning of which I was able to fill the seats, then in the evening 4 people from upstate had called the RH to say they couldn't get down with the weather and then 1 guy and his gf just plain didn't show, which is really weird because he came to the church? So after final count was in, day of, I lost 8 in actuality but was 6 under final count. I was supposed to have 120 guests and ended up with 114, 116 with ourselves. 122 with vendors.

We got under 5.
One was my cousin from FL. She had ear surgery and was unable to fly. Totally understandable.
Last minute was another cousin and aunt of mine. My aunt got Lyme disease. And my cousin had that nasty somach virus. All were very valid reasons, they called the morning of the wedding and some even had their S.O. or another relative bring their cards.
My Mom and Dad did the right thing though. They gave their final count minus 10 just in case if their were any cancellations. In def worked in their favor.

I had 2. One was in a car accident two days before and couldn't drive in because her car was in the shop and the other (who is someone who I didn't really care if she showed up or not anyway) just didn't come without warning. I honestly think she stole the money her dad (my uncle) gave to her to give to us as a gift and hung out with her friends instead.

Definitely wait...we had a few after the rsvps and then about 3 within the 3 days before the wedding...the seating place cards were the last thing I did!

I had 2 a week before and 6 no shows the day of...1 of then the wife couldnt come and then the family of 5 had car trouble. I also had 2 ppl who said no and showed up ..which I was so happy about!!!!

We had 2 people cancel the week before, but luckily that was before we put the count in. Then 3 no shows the day of. (2 of DH’s parents friends that I’d never met and one was my wacky aunt that I knew wouldn’t show up but my family assured me she would.)

we had 2 cancellations and 3 no shows..I would definitely give your final headcount minus a few to leave room for the dropouts.

Yea I went nuts with seating too. I did have a few cancellations and then add ons too. Also... I had some that went back and forth on if they were coming and others went back and forth on if they were bringing a date. It was crazy!! I finished my seating like days before the wedding because of it!! It was a total pain in the butt!!!!
But it will all work out in the end!!
I would calculate for about 3 cancellations... maybe 1 couple and then just one extra.

After we paid the RH we had 5 cancellations
Understandable: One of my mom's co-workers was in the hospital so him and his wife did not go. My BM's husband was really sick cancelled the day before thought he had the flu so it was better that he stayed home.
Questionable: One of DH's friend's girlfriend did not show up I was told she was sick laster found out it was because they got into a fight (fyi he never gave us a gift even though he came to the wedding)
2 of DH's cousins cancelled two days before because of friend of a friends father was sick or something like that. Did not call us to say they were not coming they left a message with my MIL.

If I don't tell the RH the precise number than don't they not have enough table settings for when I casually slip in the few extra placecards?
