I know many of you have seen what my e-ring looks like but for those who haven't - it has a really high setting! FH went with my older brother to one of his friends jewelers and FH got a really great deal on my ring. He basically paid for the diamond and got the setting as a gift which was really awesome and we were so thankful!
A few times people have told me they thought my setting was too high but the ring is insured and I always figured it was fine - well...I was wrong. Last night FH I went to hug FH and my ring got caught on the hood of his sweatshirt and BROKE!!!! The basket of the ring literally broke off from the band - I couldn't believe it! My ring is in 2 PIECES!!
I'm so upset! I called my brother and the jeweler that we got the ring from isn't in business anymore so I can't even go back to him. FH called a few places and they basically said they could sod the basket back onto the band but we're running a high risk of the same thing happening again - everyone suggested getting a new setting.
I feel naked with out my ring and I'm so upset that this happened. Sorry this was so long. Vent over

Oh no! I'm sorry you have to deal with that but thankfully you were home when it happened and you weren't somewhere where something could get lost Hope you find someone that can fix it for you!

aww ashely i'm sorry this happened! you're ring is beautiful and that's a shame that that happened. can they make it just a tad bit shorter? i have no idea what a sod is but you don't want to have to deal with it breaking again. sorry

don't be sad! you still have the diamond and the ring - thank god you didn't lose it!
perhaps you could go to another jeweler and sell the setting to them and use the $$ from it to purchase a new setting?
go to tri-county - they are usually willing to work with people
i've been to turkan, romanza, and gold star multiple times. bought wedding bands at romanza and gold star. FH bought my ering at empire diamonds in the empire state building so im no help there.

Ash.... i have a really great jewler if you want the info. ALthough he is located in the diamond district... he custom made my setting.... and my best friends wedding band

Sod is kinda like 'glueing' the ring back together. They said it may discolor in the area that it's sodded and we do run the risk of it falling off so I think we're going to have to get a totally new setting - definitely a lower one this time lol

Maybe sell the ring n get a new one.. =-( I mean if they put it back, it can happen again. I have done that with jewerly and once its 'fix' it takes couple fo more months n it breaks again... its never the same.

Yea we're lucky it came off when we were home, if we were out the diamond would be gone forever!! I think we're gonna try to sell the broken band for some money and put it toward the new setting.
We actually got our bands from Turkan in Tri-County, maybe I'll see if they have a setting that will match the band. Thanks Li!

I'm so sorry this happened!!! I would personally get a new setting -this way you can rest easy. Perhaps you can sell the old setting for a new one - not ideal, but better than this happening again!

this is one of my fears bc I have a high setting also
i know its sad and the ring is sentimental but you must get a new band, I would not trust the band being sodered back together
