wow angela! I think I know who you are talking about too.
I'm sorry. that does stink!! It's nice of you to not ask her to ditch the pics. Does the other bride even know about this situation? And how the BM/friend of yours is missing your wedding for pictures that could be taken on the day of?? I think it's a little overboard. I've never heard of anyone doing this. Is the bride going to put on a wedding dress and the groom his tux and all?? It's very off beat to me. What time are the pictures?? Are you sure there isn't something else that could be worked out? Time wise? Maybe she could leave from your wedding to go to the pictures (and her hair and makeup will alreade be done for the pics).
I sorry.
i have no idea if the bride knows... Jocelyn said she wants to take shaun and I to dinner i think maybe we'll do that in a week or two i'll def find out more info though...
sending you an fm
I probably shouldn't say this so openly... given the history and all
BUT I think... it's up to Jocelyn to make sure the bride knows. I think if the bride knew for sure and cared she could at the VERY least move the time back so that the pictures could still be taken and Jocelyn could still attend your wedding (even if she would have to leave a little bit early).
I really don't think it's too much to ask. If I were you I would DEF throw that out there to Jocelyn. Let her know that it's REALLY important to you to have her there at least for a portion of the wedding, seeing as though you guys were soooo close growing up. I mean it's not like hey... we were kindergarten friends who lost touch... you guys were friends from VERY young to at least late teen years to my knowledge.
i know i just dont want her to be the girl that causes drama for the other wedding ya know...
holy rock and hard place...
but youre right... it wasnt until we were in our 20s that we started to lose touch... we met in pre-k and were inseperable from then on...
I don't think it would cause drama if it was approached correctly. Jocelyn could just nicely present the situation and ASK her nicely. Not demands none of that.
If it were me and I were the bride and I knew the situation... I would try to work it out for the BM, the other bride and for my wedding as well.
I'm not saying ask to NOT take pics... but if they start at let's say 7... maybe ask if they can start at 9 or so. I don't know the reasoning behind this bride having the pics taken the night before... but it's worth a shot to at least inform her and see what can be done, if anything can be done.
Again though... in a nice manner. Just a simple... hey Jocelyn I REALLY REALLY want you to come to my wedding. I'm super hurt that you can't make it and I understand if you stll can't make it... but do you think you could perhaps attend half the wedding and leave early? What time are her pictures? Does she know about the situation? Maybe the pictures could possibly be pushed back an hour or two if it conflicts that much? I totally understand if she can't move the pics and it's just impossible... but I just feel your presense is so important to me that I have to ask this.
If I were in Jocelyn's position.. when the bride informed me about this picture scenario... that's when I would have spoken up and said... I have a wedding that day that I need to attend... what can we work out?? I'm willing to leave the wedding early... I realize both events are important and I am more than willing to juggle both. Please work with me.

Sorry to crash but this is crazy - I'm so sorry you have to worry about this.
But like you said above - you dont want to make your friend be that girl that causes drama but this other bride is doing just that to you. Granted she may not know the circumstances but if she is that close w/ your friend she has got to know that there is another wedding going on.
I really hope you can find a way to work both things out - I understand its her wedding pictures but she must be taking them day of. If we have to compare here i think wedding day over rules wedding pictures. Good luck!!!!

Re: soooo annoyed...
I know how you feel... I had 2 VERY close childhood friends... who didn't attend my wedding. I was soo hurt by that. Actually I was more annoyed with one than the other. Can't say I'll really ever talk to the one again. One had a reason and the other didn't.

I really think it's at least worth a shot. I think it's good. Again... just make sure you approach it correctly. I'm sure you will. It's just so much more helpful to go about it the right way... that's the key to not causing any drama. If you get demanding and all... then it's a sure in that things won't work out the way you want them to.

Re: soooo annoyed...
Sorry, that is so frustrating.... FBIL is in a wedding the week after ours and I made sure to tell him that that guy's bach party can't be the weekend of our wedding.....
I felt really bad, but it was RIGHT from the start, so I can totally understand wanting to have known about this earlier..............

Re: soooo annoyed...
Your friend probably feels just as bad which is most likely why she didnt tell you right away. In the end its better if they tell you right away but when they feel bad its easier to procrastinate bad news than being up front. I had a similar situation where a friend couldnt attend my reception due to a family event she HAD to attend. She put off telling me bc she felt so bad about missing out. And I would be the same way.
Its crazy what the other bride is doing...but if the shoe was on the other foot and you were having your photos taken the day before you would expect your BM there right? But I agree to see if she can somehow make it to your wedding, see what her time frames are and if theres any time that she can sneak over to yours for a little. Sorry you gotta deal with something like that!
