I just wish they had an actualy food tasting. Yes you can go to their resturant but I don't have the money to spend on what they charge for dinner there I'm on quite a tight budget. That's my only hold back from booking, tasting their food.

CLM did the tasting and it was fantastic, that's what they have holding over Fox Hollow at this point with me.

I had my reservations about the food too since you can't taste it. But over reading reviews and talking to a lot of people, not one person had a compliant. I loved it so I just went with it.

The food is very important with my family. If I go back there and love the room at night (i wasn't crazy about it during the day light) I might have dinner at their resturant.

you should try to insist they provide a tasting. Giorgio's offered to us without even asking...if a place wants your business they should let you try the food for free : )

Trust me when I say, they will NOT allow a tasting. Yes it is a little odd. But its such a big establishment, they cannot accomodate such a need. You will get some free stuff at the restaurant. But they are very well known, especially for their high quality of food.

I understand why they do it, it just *****. I've had tastings at other places and I'm so glad I did. Everyone under the sun raves about how good their food is.... not always the case as I have found out

But if I go back and love the room at night.... I won't mind spending a little extra to just assure myself that I am making the right choice. I need that kind of comfort or else I won't book.

I agree with you. A lot of people love the Lessings food. FH and I went to Smithtown landing for a showcase and he HATED the food. I couldnt eat it because I have horrible stomach issues and they were really bad that day.

So many brides on LIW, especially 2010, are fox hollow brides. FH and I went there and didnt have a great experience which I really didnt understand. They gave us a really hard time about our minimum of 75. And the really odd thing is a friend of mine booked Fox Hollow for a 75 minimum with no problem. I guess they just didnt like my face. FH loved the bar area.

Do they ever have a showcase? That might be an opportunity for you to try the food. I sometimes think showcases are the best place to try the food, because its being mass produced. If you go in for a tasting it might only be made for you and your guest.
I kinda feel that way about wedding cakes. You go for a tasting and the cake tastes great. In my whole life, I've never had a wedding cake that tasted good. It's always super dry.

I'm not sure if their showcases are for their brides only or not. I know Westbury Manor is that way and since Fox is also owned by the Scotto brothers I imagine it's the same.

But I do love the fox they gave me! He's on a shelf in my room

They are having a showcase on 10/1/08, and you don't need to be a Scotto brothers bride to attend.

my brother had his reception there back in Sept 07 in the winter garden pavillion. the food was good. I wasn't a fan of the way the dance floor was set up. it was towards the back of the room right next to the bar and by the middle of the reception it was really slippery

yea im not really a fan of the dance floor but why was it slippery?

No you don't get free food at the restaurant. They do give you come free apps and/or desserts. But its not like the whole thing is free.

I think on the 1st they are just having passed stuff. But still that should give you an idea.

Yeah when my BM was there he said that if we wanted to eat at the restaurant just let him know ahead of time when we were going and he would arrange for free appetizers.
