Exactly, that's what I was just thinking. That's one of the most traditional parts of a ceremony that has remained the same over time.

I'd say just kiss him anyway! What are they going to do, UN-marry you then?? I understand, though, what you mean about outdated rules and it being an Armenian church. An ex-college friend was Armenian, her parents were EXTREMELY strict and old-world, and she wasn't allowed to date or move out..... and she was in her 20's!! I'd ask about the rules, and if anything, after your kiss, you can say, ooops!! I forgot about the rule!!

I have to just chime in on this.

Because it seems like most of us on here are having Christian, Jewish, Catholic or Secular ceremonies, we are quite used to the part where we kiss.

However it is quite taboo, for instance, in Muslim wedding ceremonies to do so. I say this b/c I've seen a a few Islamic couples who decide to have, in addition to their reiigious ceremony, an American ceremony as well, and at both the couple would either not kiss at all, or kiss on the cheek. So it really does in face, depend upon your religion. Its not unheard of.

Either they are very strict or some idiot ruined it for everyone else.

I went to a wedding where the bride and groom sloppily tongue-kissed each other for at least 30 seconds!!!!!!! At the altar!!!!! I thought he was going to cup her breast next.

So something like that happens and then 'rules' get made up.

Talk to them and see what their reasoning is. If you don't get to kiss the way you want at the ceremony maybe you can do it when the music to your first dance starts. A sweet kiss before you begin to dance can be just as romantic.
