wow I would definitely talk to your officiant about that...sometimes the rules are outdated and it's up to the officiant how he wants to conduct your ceremony.

Totally agree with this - my officiant explicitly told me that we will not be following any of the church's rules (he is an out-of-parish priest we're bringing in). The only rules he will follow have to do with liability - no runner, no birdseed. oh, and photographer cannot go on the altar.

what about...'You may now kiss the bride????'

Exactly, that's what I was just thinking. That's one of the most traditional parts of a ceremony that has remained the same over time.

This phrase isnt part of the actual (Catholic)ceremony and I have been to many weddings where this was never said - but the B&G just kissed at the end anyway. . .

I would check out WHY you can't kiss. You have two choices: You can kiss anyway and hopefully none of your guests of that faith will be offended OR have one heck of a kiss once you get outside and make sure you alert the photographer!
