ok so I have been asking FH to ask his Dad who the Dad wants to invite to the wedding. Ive been asking for months!!! Did FH ask his dad? NO!!!!!!! He says 'babe calm down--we have 9 months' Ummmmmmmm well considering IAM the ONLY one who's planning every detail of this wedding I dont have the luxury to sit around, considering im in law school too and am really busy with that.
Am I being redic for wanting to get his dads numbers 9 months before the wedding ? Anyone else have an issue with this?
So annoyed!!!!!!!!!!

I would honestly go straight to his Dad yourself. I didn't even wait for FH to go ask his parents, I just went to the their house one day with the guest list, told them to add or delete people and to fill out addresses.

your not being redic ... i cant imagine having planned a wedding while i was doing grad school, so you have every right to press them for names! i work 2 jobs plus plannin this wedding, when i ask FH for names and i didnt get them, guess what, they didnt get a STD ... and possibly wont get an invite! lol

not being redic at all.. you need that to know size of the guestlist, # of tables, # of favors etc... I asked FH for his side shortly after we got engaged... and it still took him a few months to get to his father and ask!

i went straight to my FILs since FH was like oh, yeah, i'll ask them...no i haven't done it yet...blah blah blah lol
i had the full invite list within 2 days of sitting down with FMIL...and that was almost 2 years before the wedding - i like to be ahead of the game haha

omg this sounds like FH and me!! I'm in med school planning the whole thing and I ask FH to do one thing....make sure his family gets their tickets to come (they live in PR) and book their hotel in advance! he keeps telling me they'll do it when they do it! ummm we have 4 months and the prices just keep going up!!! Not to mention I asked FH to get baby pics like months ago from his mom for the montage...haven't seen them yet...i keep getting 'calm down babe' too ....then i realize they are guys and don't understand our need to do all this in a timely manner!!!
but really you should be able to get ppl he wants to invite...you are way under a year away! maybe you should just try asking his dad and you'll have better luck than fh!

men have no idea what goes into wedding planning. i mean, how would they when they don't even help?! ughh, sorry.. personal vent over here.

I would agree there! It's even as simple as just sending an email asking if there was anyone specific or a list that they had in mind already!

umm i'm actually having the opposite problem. I can't get a list/addresses from my OWN parents! His parents are way more involved than mine PLUS FH's sister got married in 09 so they already have a list of ppl plus their addresses. My sisters are lucky they don't have to deal with this crap now! If you're close enough with ur in laws, just ask them yourself!

Thats not rediculous!! It takes a lot of time to get the guest list together and then to get all of their addresses!!! You need time so that your not freaking out last minute

if i waited for FH to ask his dad/stepmom and mom for their lists i'd still be waiting. I went straight to the stepmom and she had it for me within days.
You need it for budget reasons! you need to know what types of minimums you're looking at and what you can realistically meet.
Plus, we needed it to send save the dates

I have been waiting for my list since last year because I told FH to ask his parents to get the guestlist ready for me. I finally just went to his mom myself told her when I needed the list by and she said no problem. I made it very clear to EVERYONE that if I don't have the list by the specific date NO ONE will be invited and we will get married in Hawaii alone. I'm very sure I will have my list now.
No, you are not crazy!! Sometimes you have to go straight to the source with some force. FH doesn't understand. Men are programmed a little differently

you really should have had a list to begin with. what if now he gives you 10 people and you're way under your min or he gives you 200 people and you're over it.
that means extra tables which means extra cps...etc.
geez FFIL, get the list.
go ask for it yourself. I would.

Thanks girls!!!!!!!!!!! im giving him 2 days--- if I dont get anything in 2 days Im emailing the dad. I want all of it in writing!!
My issue is we are trying to not go over our minimum of 125 and now we have a a lot on our guest list like 150 and for some reason everyone on my A list is telling me NOW they are def coming and that got me more worried that we may have way over 125 people. so I had to put some of the people I wanted to invite-- On the B list. so if his dad gives me like 20 people i have to put additional people on the B list! Fh doesnt get it bec he talks to other guys who got married and they tell him oh we booked vendors a few months before so he thinks im nuts for booking things so far in advance. men!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG that stinks! cant count on men much for anything lol. Def talk to him yourself and get the list (or at least a count).
FH hasnt gotten his list together yet...he asked his mom for address etc and I am still waiting. My family got their STD but his hasnt...oh well! not my problem!!!!
