Sorry, but I have to ask...

Sorry, but I have to ask...

Did any of you get crotch lightening? It is a strong shooting pain up through my cervix and to top it off I feel like I just rode a bike to LI and back. I know that feeling is from the spreading of my hips (as my husband so kindly pointed out.)

The joys of the final weeks....

No, and it certainly doesn't sound pleasant...

LMAO!!! Ah, the joys of motherhood.....

I had some pain down yonder, but it was more around the groin area and it was because the Bear Cub's head was down low for so long!!!! I didn't walk from LI to Buffalo (that's where you are, right?), but I did walk from Manhattan to Queens during the blackout with the pain!!! That was a fun walk -- I felt like I had something in between my legs!! I must have looked hysterical from behind!!!!

Re: Sorry, but I have to ask...

Hmmm, I thought it was originally from the baby being breech, but now I am not so sure it is it's foot. It feels like a stabbing pain...sometimes it is really strong (hence why I named it lightening) and other times it is there, but just dull.

When did you drop? I have started to drop now...and according to the rest of the world (besides me and my Dr that is) either I am having twins or just plain not really due in 8 wks like I say I am. lmao, I love people's comments about how big I am.

Nancy, I honestly don't know when I dropped because I didn't know I had dropped in the first place! It was definitely in the last month, plus I went 5 days early (not to mention my original due date was 9/14, but they moved me up to 9/9 and I had her 9/4, so go figure). She was in position for about 2-3 weeks before I had her!!

You're almost there!!! This is the fun time-- the home stretch!!!

Yes, I know the pain you speak of It was annoying and yes, I do think its your hips widing and your body preparing for the birth

Re: Sorry, but I have to ask...

The girl who cuts my hair told me she had bad sharp pains down yonder with one of her pregnancies.
I had a lot of pressure down yonder about a week and a half ago. It only lasted one day but it felt like baby wanted out.
I guess it depends on the position of the baby.

I had sharp pains like a stabing kind of pain. I dropped about my due date...guess that is why he didn't make it until two weeks later.

Well, atleast I am not alone! I have read that it could mean that you are effacing or that it is a type of contraction...cannot wait to ask my Dr next Tuesday!

Re: Sorry, but I have to ask...

Unfortunately I know what you're talking about! Right now little Madeleine is so low, she actually rests on my lap when I sit down... it's ridiculous... I say come out already!

But unfortunately that pain down south had nothing to do with effacing for me... Absolutely nothing is progressing in terms of dilation or effacing...

But then again I did have a range for a due date... anywhere from January 25th to February 4th... so technically I'm not late yet... JOY!

I never heard the term crotch lightening...is that real pregnancy terminology??

I do know about the achiness of the pelvic bone spreading if that's what you are feeling Ouch! I had it for awhile after having the baby too as everything 'went back into place'. It was like a toothache in your crotch Now as far as I know that is NOT pregnancy terminology.

The end is in sight

Re: Sorry, but I have to ask...

Since you have a range, are they going to let you go 2 weeks past the Feb 4th due date? Why did they give you a range? My Dr questioned my due date in the beginning, similiar range, but now is convinced that my original EDD is right.

Labor vibes!

i'm just going to but in here and say I just thought of Crotch Lightening sung to the tune of Greased Lightening from Grease..

Re: Sorry, but I have to ask...

I think it should be a preggo term especially now that there's a tune to go along with it LOL

Re: Sorry, but I have to ask...

I'm seriously hoping that she doesn't decide to hang out 2 weeks past the Feb 4th date. I'm going to ask my doctor tomorrow when I see her.

I have that range because her date conflicted with the ultrasound date. Her date was the later one and the ultrasound date is the earlier one. But then again when I was in childbirth classes, the nurse mentioned how they should be giving us a range rather than a date, because it isn't a science.

I'm thinking she'll be born on February 1st... superbowl sunday...

Re: Sorry, but I have to ask...

See my calculated it March 25th and then the sonogram at first said April 3rd and the Dr said he wanted to see how my pregnancy progressed. Well, now I am actually measuring before March 25th! With-in reason of course...

My Dr put it to me like this. Tell people somewhere between mid-March and mid-April. I guess he is taking in to account then!

Re: Sorry, but I have to ask...

i had that for both of my pregnancies, it may be your hips spreading but it could also be the way the baby is sitting on your muscles and nerve endings.
