Re: sorry for the stupid question but
I'm not sure what exactly goes in out of town bags, but I think some people puts maps, things to do, stuff for the hotel stay etc. IMHO I don't think it's rude not having them. Personally, I can't be bothered with figuring out everyone's hotel accomodations.

Re: sorry for the stupid question but
you don't have to give them
or you could just ask the front desk to see if they have anything nice and complimentary that they could offer the people just b/c there are only a few-- so they could ask them upon arrival if they want a bottle of water or a glass of soda or a cup of coffee...
OOT bags are not required, the only thing I ever actually used out of them was a bag of mini oreos!! MMMMM

Re: sorry for the stupid question but
definitely not a requirement. i'm not doing them for $$ reasons. it's a super sweet thing to do if you can afford it

Re: sorry for the stupid question but
You don't have to do it - but you could do it for very, very cheap. A water bottle, some candy and bag of chips. I think it gets pricey and out of hand when everything is personalized... it just nice to get to the hotel and have a treat or two waiting for you.

Re: sorry for the stupid question but
I got one for my cousin's wedding in PA last year and it was cute. It had a bunch of snacks, juice boxes, and maps about stuff to do in the area. It was in a simple white gift bag with a message on it and tied with curling ribbon.

I once went to a wedding where the OOT bag had snacks, water bottles, flip flops, gum, and some other stuff. It was very cute.

Re: sorry for the stupid question but
We're going to attempt to do OOT bags. We're including maps, tourist destiantions in the area, two bottles of water (the small one), some chips and candy for the long distance drive btw the hotel and church, etc.

Re: sorry for the stupid question but
I think they're a good idea...most of our guests are coming from NJ and are unfamiliar with the north fork so we're planning on doing some local goodies - north fork potato chips, tate's cookies, maybe long island candle factory, some maps, and then some kind of emergency kit - aspirin, band aids, bottled water, etc., etc. But no need to go over the top - it's really the thought that counts.
