Sort of NWR-Question about Money/CDs/Investing

Okay, our E-Party was last week, and our guest were VERY generous. I have been thinking of getting a CD or something for most of the money. But I am CLUELESS about investing and such.

Is there such a thing as a short term (1 year) CD or some type of STABLE short term investment I can put some of this $$ into so it'll grow over the next year?

I figured we don't need to make any BIG payments until April/May of next year (about 6-8 weeks before the wedding).

TIA!

Jill,

There are several short term low risk options out there that would be helpful to you including the following:

3,6,9, or 12 month CD's the further out you go the higher the interest rate; or

Money market accounts are not that risky and you can pull out at any time.

Hope this helps!

ing has decent interest rates - it is a savings account- you can accss the money whenever - it gets transfered back to your checking account

Thanks!

Are there minimum deposits on any of these?

Most places don't have a minimum deposit, but some will charge you fees if your deposit isn't over a certain amount. I would call you bank and ask about the investment opportunieies that it offers.
