SO..Who's had a barbecue recently?

Original post by marymoon

I'm thinking of having a small BBQ for FH's birthday (under 10 people) but I've never had a BBQ before. What do I need?

Plates
napkins
cups
forks, knives and spoons
beer, soda, ice
hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, veggie dogs

what else?

Also, how much did your last BBQ cost?

BBQ Chicken-My Way

Ingredients:

3lbs Chicken Parts (more probably for 10 people)
Kosher or Course Salt
Coarse Pepper
Garlic Powder
Paprika
Chipotle or Ancho Seasoning (to taste)
BBQ Sauce-(get some smoky flavored ones)

Season both sides of the chicken well with dry ingredients. Spray your grill with Pam when the grill is cold. Pre-heat your grill till it reaches 400 degrees. Place chicken skin down on the grill. Turn once after 6-7 minutes..watch it to make sure it doesn't burn. Chicken should cook most of the way through if you cook it 6-7 minutes on each side. Cut into the chicken in a piece that has a bone like a leg or a thigh (these take the longest to cook) if it's bloody still, leave it on the grill, if not, then proceed to brush the chicken with the BBQ sauce. Once you've coated on one side, let cook for about 2 minutes, turn and brush the other side. Cook for another minute or so.

The key is to make sure the chicken is cooked 90% before putting the BBQ sauce or the chicken won't get cooked thoroughly and your BBQ sauce won't stick.

Let me know if you have any questions..
