Spaghetti Strap Dress at church

I am getting married by an old fashion priest who said to me that I should not be in a low cut gown. I bought this gown 2 yrs ago and I love it. It is not a cleavage piece at all, but my shoulders are bare. I am wondering if my veil is on my shoulders is that okay? I am in fear that this priest will look at me and say he will not marry me in this dress. I looked at shawls, but all of them would hang off my shoulders anyway. Does anyone have this problem?

If your really concerned what your priest will say it is probably best to discuss it with him before the day of the wedding. I have heard horror stories of priests who made the bride wear the grooms tux jacket in the church because of a strapless dress. Best of luck!

I will wear the matching shawl to my dress. There is a way you can tie the shawl in the back so it covers your shoulders, but does not get in the way.I would ask the store where you got your dress, maybe they have something that will work. I agree w/ srykert, I would talk to your priest prior to the wedding. It may not be a problem! Good luck! Continued success to all...

Are you kidding???

I would go balistic if I was told to put a jacket over my dress on my wedding day. Spaghetti straps are not to reveiling. So I wouldn't mind to much! And last I heard God wanted us all to be naked!! =) I can't beleive they would try to add to your stress!

Holy @*#!?%...

I would be freaking out!!! I asked my priest if what I would wear could be a problem at our 1st interview! Thank goodness I did. MY dress is STRAPLESS!! He told me that the church no longer trys to police what the brides wear. I guess some priests and churches haven't caught on yet. Good luck!

If it really is a problem, maybe you could buy a matching bodysuit to wear under your dress? Here`s a link to a page that shows what I`m talking about. http://www.planningpotpourri.com/photo/index.pl?photo=3043
