SPAM from LI Weddings vendors...LI Weddings question for you...

Ever since entering the contest , I get emails everyday from LI Weddings vendors.

LI Weddings - can you differentiate the brides from the newlyweds, so we're not getting advertising for services we no longer need?

Also, the vendors aren't using blind addressing - I can see the email address of everyone they sent it to. I don't think we all want our email addresses distributed in this way. If you're going to sell them our addresses, can you make sure they BCC everyone or create an address list. Its easier than you think it'd be to connect the screen name with the email address.

And to the vendors...I'd never book someone that sends me unsolicited email.

Lis, you took the words right out of my mouth! I have received several e-mails from the same vendors in the same day.

Since I signed up for the contest - I have gotten over 35 vendor e-mails I have actually gotten e-mails from vendors that I already booked!!!!!!!!!!

Me too!!!!!! I just got an email from a videographer Im ALREADY MARRIED!!!!
I guess it was from entering the contest.

I COMPLETELY agree! I sent a forum mail to LIW yesterday. I try very hard to keep spam out of my private emails, so this is really annoying.

I noticed that you have to check off a box agreeing with the privacy rules before entering in the contest - i checked the box off before reading, not thinking anything of it.

Then once I saw all the emails, I searched this site for the privacy policy and couldn't even find it.

Edited to say that if I knew our emails would be used by vendors, I wouldn't have entered myself in the raffle

I just got 2 from Image Cast video- they are wasting money since I am already married AND a very happy Wild Rose Video Bride. Please get me off these lists.

I must be the lucky one then, b/c I have not gotten anything....thank goodness. Then again I use the email addy that I use to sign up for everything not my personal email addy. I know how frustrating junk/spam mail can be.

I don't know if it's coincidence but I've received some phone calls also. I also receive mail and email all the time. Most of the things I've booked already also.

just wait... in a few days you'll also be getting regular mail from these vendors!

when this happened to me, I just emailed LIweddings and asked them to take me off of their list, and the emails ceased..... good luck!

Me too! not only do i get emails and regular mails but phone calls too. And they seem to know an awful lot about me when they call (including the date i am getting married and my full name and FH's full name). I really do not like this! it is one thing to get easily 10 emails a day, but phone calls at my home at 8 pm, uh uh. i don't even answer my phone any more!

this happened to me a while back & then it stopped completely soon after but it does say if you read the rules before you enter about receiving emails.

I wish that LI Weddings had an opt-out option. I knew the privacy statement said that our email addys could be sold to vendors/third parties but since I never received any email from them before I figured I was safe. Oh well, I won't make that mistake again!

OMG I popped on here to see if anyone else had this problem. I NEVER give my email address out and got like 10 SPAM wedding related emails since I entered that stupid contest. I am very disgusted by this... I never would have entered if I knew my info was going to be given out or even worse sold to vendors. So adios, my last post, I just feel bad I told other people to use this website as well....

I knew getting emails was a possibility when I entered, but its just silly that the vendors would email newlyweds. If LI Weddings distinguished the brides from the newlyweds, I'm sure the vendors wouldn't email us.

I've responded to a few saying we've been married for 8 months and to remove me from their lists, and I actually got a very nice apology from John Weppler (these vendors aren't interested in newlyweds, so it makes no sense to include our email in the lists):

'Hi Lisa,

I’m very sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, your name was included in what must have been an old list. I respect your need for privacy, and can only offer my apologies. Have a Happy New Year.

Lisat - I totally am in agreeance with your first post.

I have emailed all of these junk mail solicitations asking to be removed but no one has written such a pleasant response to me (as in your second post). Some even came back invalid address!


I wish I would have realized this would happen. I would have used the email I use for junk mail. I used my email that I normally use for LIW (the one that never gave me junk mail before).

me too. Out of nowhere I am getting all these emails from vendors and they mention LIW in there email to me. It is getting a little annoying to open my personal email account and see all these vendors emailing me. I just delete them

I am glad I am not the only one facing this.
