Spanx

Any ideas on Spanx? Anyoned tired the strapless slip?

Looking to slim my hourglass figure to get that 'slimmer' look for my form fitting dress.

Thinking an all in one for top/bottom might be easier - less to move around if its all in place. Like the idea of spanks that fit through hips but go high also - don't want the bludge between the bottom and the bra - which I need to get then too since mine stink haha

Purchasing my dress friday - not an actual fitting but they're gonna measure me to fit it - figured having all my trimmings for underneath would be a good way to save money on fittings later haha

Any ideas or recommendations? Gonna try victoria secrets maybe?

So annoyed with Spanx. They are great, I love them, but its SOOOO annoying that they have a HUGE seam going all the way up the middle of the entire garmet. I bought a fairly tight satin dress for a wedding last night and the seam showed right through the dress. I couldnt wear the spanx and I was pissed cause I needed a little firming up!!!

If you get the all in one and you have to pee, you have to take your entire dress off. If you get the Higher Power and tuck it into your bra (this works if you aren't too tall), you can get away with holding your dress up.

Personally, I felt more comfortable taking the entire dress off, since it was just a zipper in the back. I wouldn't recommend it for a corset back though.

Lord & Taylor carries them. I also heard that Bloomies just started carrying them too. Great Shapes in Roslyn, Woodbury and Merrick also carries them.

I have gotten mine at Bloomies.

They totally take you down a size (me anyway) but since they press on my tummy it makes me have to pee twice as much!!!!

i had the same exact issue with the higher power ones under a slim satin dress - not to mention the dress had a SLIT in the back that i never took into consideration and as we were leaving the hotel room FH was like 'uhhhh i see your spanx'

but anyways, if you want to splurge spanx makes a pair that is called Slim Cognito. the material is much better and smoother and has a bit more control and it is completely seamless so you can wear it under anything. i love them!

Wow, thanks so much for all the wonderful responses - I think I'm gonna at least try a pair on for size and see how they work.


I don't need to get them now just to order the dress right? Only for my first fitting??
