Spiders!

i hate them too. here is a pic of a spider i had on my kitchen counter when i was in sydney last year. the bugs there are unreal....

this thing was sitting on the counter and i thought it was my roommates toy or something. i just woke up bleary eyed and i am like w t f is that. and she is like it is just a spider, a huntsman. i am like you are kidding right? it wasnt moving so i had no idea what to think. all the while she is cooking around this monstrosity (spelling?).

so i went into panic mode and called FH. i am like come here now and get this thing off my counter (he lived an hour away). and he is like what is it? so i tell him the name and he is like they are so cute. i ask how to kill it and he says no, that would be messy. and watch out they can run fast. and they can bite, but it isnt poisonous (there are 8 different spiders in australia that are posionous). so i get a piece of cardboard and a tupperware container and my roommate gets it out and we let it go outside.

and then later in the day i was talking to my other roommate and he is like did you see the huntsman this morning? i am like yes! why didnt he get it out i thought. and then he goes on to tell me it was just a baby

but now i realise they are good and kill roaches (which are common over there). they still freak me out!

I could tell you stories about this one apt I stayed in for only 9 mths..., stories of sitting on the kitchen counter, sleeping with the lights on, the amt of money dropped on Raid, the tequila shots needed to relax, but...I won't...the thought of reliving it is too much to bear.

DH is amazed by what he calls my 'Spidey Sense'. I can actually walk into a room and spot one out. Just last night there was this itty bitty one the size of a dot on our bedroom ceiling...I scream for him to come in and kill it. He says, Oh, it's just a mark...I grab the flashlight and there's the little freaky legs. He looks at me, shakes his head and says...'Spidey Sense' again!

I seriously did a speech in college on my fear...I aced it because as talking about it I broke out into a sweat.

I have the same thing...DH is always amazed by this.

He also thinks I'm weird b/c I watch every TV show on spiders that I can. I believe that you should know everything about your enemy.

i am screaming for you....and running as far away as possible...i had a rather large one on my desk a couple weeks ago.....freaked me out...even better was when i fetched a man to kill it/remove it....he sees it and says 'oh, that's big.' great...i'm surrounded by chickens!! seriously, they're lucky i was NOT screaming!

I don't see spiders the same way as I do other bugs - spiders kind of serve a purpose (in eating other bugs) so I try to kill them - I try to put them outside. But I'm referring to the small everyday spiders - no the ginormous ones.

I don't kill them either. I strategically place a glass, pot, vase, (what ever is handy) over them so they are trapped. Then fh handles his biz, I don't know what happens to them after I catch them.

Thats all bugs. I have tripped fh multiple times with glasses on the floor, he is not the biggest fan of this approach.

it wasnt my hand, it was my roommate's hand. it was to show how big it was. i just took the pic, so i could show them how big this thing was! no way would my hand go that close.....

I've had them literally go into 'attack mode' when they kick their front legs up...ughghhghghghghg.... HEEBEE GEEBIES!!!

yeah i didnt believe it was real. what scares me is that was only a baby. FH was telling me about how there was that exact spider in his house, by his bathroom, but it was an adult. it was the size of his hand. can you imagine that? and these spiders love to hide in the wierdest spots, especially under car visors in a car. imagine that you want to get the sun out of your eyes while driving and this thing comes out.....

the bugs and other wierd stuff in australia are unreal. anfd i thought florida was bad with the palmettos and stuff. i said in a previous post about how roaches are over there. they occasionally get in the house (they are like the palmetto bugs down south). i was out one nite with a friend and we had a little bit too much to drink. we then walked home and i passed out. imagine the horror when i awoke at 4 AM to a HUGE roach (i am talking pinky sized) crawling on the wall next to me. I flipped, ran in the other room to get the spray and sprayed it. it then FLEW across the room, and i eventually killed it. it was the grossest thing ever. and where i lived was VERY clean. it is just a fact of life down there . i snapped a pic of that, too, but that is really gross. i take these pics for my family, they dont believe me when i say there was a bug THIS big....

this was walking around FH's yard one afternoon.



it was a blue tongued lizard. and it was big....
