Spin off from the Disney Movie : Song of the South
Since I mentioned it.. anyone have it?
For those who need a reminder.. it's the one wtih Zippity Do Dah song.
It was pulled by Disney.
*sigh*
I loved that movie.
I was young and didn't know it meant bad things.

I don't have the movie, but I think I still have the book.
I'll have to read it, to see if there are any obvious obnoxious things in it. But just from my childhood memory, I can't remember anything nasty or bad in it. I just remember a cute rabbit and an old man...

problem (i hear) is the old man was black.. it supposedly made racial remarks.
I don't think they would have allowed that in print either, would have editted it. Unless you have a really old copy.
My father is so bummed that he cant share it wtih my younger siblings. We just liked the music, ya know?

I don't have the movie (although I think you can get it in Europe) but we have the album. The album alone has some racial remarks-as perceived by most people.
I love Splash Mountain-one of my favourite rides ever!!!

I have a copy!! I have had it for months and I still havent' watched it. I think I saw it when I was younger, but I only remember the parts that they highlight in the Splash Mountain attraction.

I think it was pulled because of 'de tar baby' not necessarily because of the old man. It was definitely a favorite of mine as a kid and I wish I could see it again. I have a faint memory of watching it on The Wonderful World of Disney.

My copy is very old, probably printed in the 40s or 50s. So I'll have to check it out...

Xelindrya: If you want a copy, I could see if I can hook up our old VCR to our current one and copy it. FM me, if you want it. I've never done it before, but how hard can it be?
