spin off to: order of weddings. . .

spin off to: order of weddings. . .

Just curious. . . is anyone getting married :out of order: and is it causing any problems?

As I wrote in the other posts my siblings and I were married 'in order' of our ages. However, we are VERY close with my ONLY cousins in America . . . we were raised as brothers and sisters our whole lives. . .

So all of us will be married before my oldest cousin who is almost 40 and in a horrendous relationship. It was okay when everyone else was getting married, but since I'm the 'baby' now everyone feels so bad for her! We were supposed to have a champagne toast on New Year's Day for FH and I this year, but instead we had to toast to the New Year because we didnt want to upset her too close to her birthday ( the next day). NOW she is planning a 40th birthday party for herself the week before my wedding. . . i was going to ask her to change it but noooo everyone feels SO BAD for her I can't even mention it. . . and if i talk 'too much' about the wedding my mom will pull me to the side and tell me to shut up!

its so annoying bc its not even HER - she is so excited for me, it is everyone else who is tip toeing around her that is getting my upset like I am not supposed to be happy! --wow sorry for the long post ! just wondering if anyone else was going through the same thing!

Well my situation is a whole other story. I am the youngest out of 5 and the first one to have a 'Big Wedding' so my Mother is tip toeing around the rest of my brothers and sisters on what she is doing for us. FH and I are paying for the entire Wedding and honestly I am glad we are because I don't want to deal with the BS of 'Why are you doing this for her'. The only thing my Mom is buying me is my dress and honestly as sad as it is, I can't even tell my other family members that she is because of what it would start.

My sister broke up with her FH, so wedding talk is limited around her. She cries on the drop of a dime and even though deep down inside I know she is truly happy for me, it is so hard to not talk about things with my sister.

My baby sister (6 years younger than me) got married 4 years ago. When she announced her engagement, everyone thought they had to walk on eggshells around me. I must have gotten about 8 phone calls within the first hour my sister called everyone to see if I was okay.

Seriously, why wouldn't I have been happy for my sister?

UGG I am so glad you posted this!
I have 6 sisters so their are 7 girls total (yes same parents) and we are not in order it is actually 13426 followed by (guessing here) 57.

Now none of my older sisters had any problems with being out of order but my sister #5 is being a raging Biotch. I don't know what her problem is. See 1234 are all irish twins (no actual twins), that means that they are born less than 1 year apart so they are now 37-36-35-34. then there is a big gap and the three of us (the babies as we are called) are 27-26-23.

John and I have been together 4.5 years while #5 has been with her bf for 2 years. She didn't realize that she wanted to be married until I was engaged and is now making the whole experience horrendous for me. We are actually having a sit down tomorrow with #2 as our mediator to discuss her problems and whether she wants to be in my wedding anymore.

Do you feel like a mathmatician with all of those numbers.

Me and my sister are about 18 months apart. We have both been with our fiance's for about the same amount of time.

My sister's fiance didn't have money for the ring but they knew they were getting married and my sister knew she was going to get married with or without an engagement ring. Such an idea though is TABOO to my other family members (mom, aunts, etc) so without telling anyone other than me, her and her FH went and booked the hall and the church to reserve their date before they were technically 'engaged.'

Fast foward to Feb 10, 2006. FH proposes to me.

My parents STILL don't know that my sister already booked her wedding for Oct. 13, 2007 because she is STILL not technically 'engaged'

We set our date for March 13, 2008 for no other reason then that's when we wanted to get married and also when we would have enough saved up for it.

My mother finds out about my sister booking her date before having a ring and gets upset. My sister then gets engaged on May 26, 2006 and things simmer down.

My mother realizes that our weddings are only 5 months apart, starts to freak out cause of $$$ (mind you she's not paying for either wedding, only helping out with the gown and MAYBE some little things here and there) and my sister turns around and tells my mother 'well don't blame me she's the one who decided to get married only 5 months after me!

?????

I kept the secret that you didn't want anyone to know because you booked your date and didn't have a ring and then you throw it in my face that I chose a date that is ONLY 5 months AFTER yours?!?!?!?

I finally had it out with her at one point and told her not to criticize me for waiting till I was engaged to book my date and according to A LOT of people,. the fact that I was officially 'engaged' would have given me the right to choose to get married whenever I wanted whether it be before or after you because you chose to do it behind everyone's back! (p.s. - my mother was there for that blow out and she agreed with me)

Not that I would the above since I knew what day my sister was booked for but it just bothers me that she uses me as an excuse when my mother starts complaining about $$$.

vent over.

ok between all the numbers in the post above and the 'secret' engagement in your post. . .i think im confused

but yeah we have similar families - so i completely understand

and i am glad that a bunch of girls can relate - its just so silly to me that i cant be 100% giddy! i mean honestly - no one tip toed around me when my family members got married one after the other - after being with their spouses for only a few months - after I was with FH for EIGHT years when we got engaged!! lol

OMG same deal with my parents! my parents didnt 'approve' of my sister's marriage until two weeks before so they didnt help her

my brother did not involve us in any way for his wedding - we practically found out where it was from the invitation - i was a bridesmaid but basically did everything on my own . . .so my parents were not going out of their way to help him

so now i am having the first wedding they are involved with and they are helping us out with stuff like my dress and they are also redoing upstairs so we can live there rent free for a few years until we save up for a house. . .we have to lie and pretend that we are paying for everything ourselves including doing my house over!! it is so sad!
