spin off to tip question

if the hall adds in a maitre'd tip to the price per person... do you give them an extra tip too??

Are you absolutely sure it's the maitre'd tip included and not a service charge? I think I've only heard of it being done this way once before- it's definitely not standard.

But if it's included, I might give a small additional tip if they went above and beyond for us or if I thought the amount included in the price wasn't sufficient.
