Original post by cbcf
Ok. I have a gyno appt on Saturday and I want to change my Birth Control Method. I am on the Patch right now!! I know I know it is horrible that is why I am getting off of it.
So the only one that I really dont want to use is Yaz since it is a low dosage I am nervous cause sorry if this is to much info but we do not use condoms and I am nervous it wont be strong enough (maybe I am being parinod)!!
OK so which one and why???
Loestrin 24 Orthro Tri Cyclen Orthro Tri Cyclen Low Yasmin The Ring
any others I just can't think (oh and not the shots)
TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think the bottom line is that everyone reacts differently. I was on the Patch and got leg cramps and freaked out, so i went off. Im very regular and dont have much prob so i rather just not be on it. You are going to probably do trial and error. but it is nice to know information prior. GL!

I'm on estrostep. I was on ortho tri cyclen but my boobs got HUGE!!!! Couldn't deal so I went off of that really quick. Estrostep works great for me! Short periods, no cramps....

I use the ring also and its been great!! I went through many of the pills and had a lot of trouble with them but no problems with the ring, I have been on it for about a year now and it hasn't fallen out or anything like that, my FH was worried about the same type of things but no problems. I thinks its also great because you don't have to worry about taking a pill everyday, also it has made my periods shorter and lighter..its been great I would recommend it!!!
do you feel as if you gained weight from it or anything??
And also if you dont mind me asking it might be weird but can FH feel it during sex or no??
And is it hard to insert?? Or hard to take out??
--------------------------------------------------------------- if you don't mind me crashing this question.... i use the ring and have been for almost 2 years. it's the best BC i have ever tried.
i maybe out on like 3lbs. over 2 years. neihter FH or myself realize that it's even in there. i was so nervous at first..like how am i going to take this thing out!!! it's like a flexible plastic ring...u squeeze it (so that it looks like a #8) and then you insert it (then it springs back into a circle). when it's time to take it out, you just make ur finger like a hook...it's literally right there like 1/2 an inch inside. and its the lowest dose. LOVE IT!!

I take estrostep and I love it, no side effects. I hated ortho low - but, everyone is different!

Ortho Low. I LOOOOOOVE IT. I was on Loestrin(sp?) at first and I was bitchy, I had headaches, and then I started to get my period every 2 weeks so they had to take me off it. But everyone is different and that might not happen to you. I know my friend is on Ortho Low also and she likes it too.

I agree with everything you just said. I went to the gyno looking for something besides the pill because I kept forgetting to take it and was doubling up way too much... the ring is really great, this is my second month on it and I highly recommend it. You don't notice in there at all!

I tried Loestrin 24 (aka pills that makes go crazy) - this pills affected my mood. I will be very happy in few minutes and angry the next. Orthro Tri Cyclen Low (aka real birth control pills) - it literally stop me from feeling anything. I have no urge on doing it.
So, my gyn gave me the lowest dose pill called Aviane.

I didn't read everyone response so maybe someone said this already but make sure that you ask about the effectiveness over a certain weight. I know that im a bit on the fluffy side and my gyno told me not to go on the low dose cuz it is a lot less effective if you are over like 180 lol so i dont know if that matters or not just thought id add :)

I had a bad experience w/Tri-Cyclen, my (naturally very curly hair) started to straighten out after a few months of taking it. Weird, right?

I tried Ortho years ago and it was horrible! I bled for so long and so heavily and was miserable!
I've been on Estrostep FE (iron) for almost 2 years now. It's a lower dose to prevent side effects. I love it!! You do not gain weight, have cramps or bleed heavily on it. Since it has iron in it (the five 'fake' pills at the end of the pack have them, to replenish it in your system while you have your period) you do not have to worry about vitamin deficiency.
I have insurance and it costs me $15.00 a month. I used to get heavy periods for at least 6-7 days, days 5-6 still being really heavy. Once my body adjusted to this one (it took about three months for my cycle to regulate..now I know the day and even time it's coming!!) and I get a moderately heavy period for days 1 and 2, days 3 and 4 are super-light and it's gone by day 5!! It truly is a miracle drug!!!
Hope that helps.
Is Estrostep FE a generic or brand? I have never heard of it before but I might think about it now haha
