Being gay is not (contrary to the way of thinking in the 50s & 60s) a learned process - you are born gay. I have quite a few friends whose father is gay - they 'came out' AFTER being married and having children...I have quite a few friends who are gay - one of whom is 1 of 5 brothers who are gay!

I think any couple who can provide love, support, nurturing and a well-being for a child, deserves to be a parent. I know a lot of hetero's who should NOT have had children (my mother dearest, being one)...and it makes me sick to my stomach that being hetero somehow makes you a card-wielding, certified-good, parent. Ugh.

I see no problem with it. Everyone regardless of who their partner is should be allowed to be a parent.
There is one heterosexual person I know in my life that should not have been blessed with a child. For normal people like ourselves a child is a blessing. For her, he is a nuisance.

It's fine with me. Those children probably learn more tolerance anyway.

I believe that children need a loving, stable home. Look how many children are put into dangerous foster care situtions each year! A parent is a parent, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, weight etc...
Most of the gay people I know would not want their children to be gay for the simple fact that it is just plain hard. Most of the gay people I know would rather their children have it easier than they did.
My sister is gay and I hope that she is a mom someday.

I don't care either as long as it's a loving, nurturing relationship. And also faithful to their partner.

I am close to someone (a young 16 year old) who is raised by her Mother who is a lesbian.
In that time, she has seen her mother go through many sexual partners, bringing them in and out of the house, living with them and their children at times, then also seeing her mother flirting with Men to get money, or what have you.

Needless to say, this is very confusing and hard on the children (she has a younger sister)
I know b/c we have had several serious talks about how her mother's behavior upsets and confuses her. She is growing up liking boys, and it very much afraid to talk to her mother about her feelings.
The Mother bad mouths the biological father, but then does the same things she accuses him of.

In this situation, I do not agree with the way she is being raised, although I don't think it has ANYTHING to do w/the fact that she's gay, but more that she is SELFISH and has not grown up, and is not in ONE committed relationship.

I had a friend in high school that was growing up with her mom and her lover. From her experience I have mix feelings. She was very uncomfortable with the situation and she was scared to bring people in the home like her friends and stuff.

I mean they did not abuse her but b/c of society's view on homosexuality it can place a lot of stress on a child.

I have absolutely NO problem with....It's really none of my business....
If they can provide a loving and nurturing family life - that is all that matters....

I don't object to it personally, but I've met a few zealous homosexuals and lesbians who stuff their lifestyle down your throat. I would hate to have that happen to a child. I think as long as the child is allowed to develop and express who they are without reservation or fear of being rejected by their parents because their lifestyle differs from theirs, then all is good in my book. Despite the fact that I have several alternate lifestyle friends, I don't always feel comfortable around them because of their strong liberal opinions.

I do not see anything wrong with it. I do not have a personal experience to share, but I think if the parents have the intention of being loving and nurturing then go for it.
