SPINOFF from the Janet post: TV, these days.. like 'THIS' was bad? CONTROVERSY?

Original post by Xelindrya

Just a controversal topic I guess.

I mean I wonder.. who cares?
So they showed her covered boob.
Lil Kim had worse and that was shown for MUCH longer and even played with by Diana Ross!

Janets was a full second of shock.. that's it.. most people had no idea what it was only that it was NOT a bare breast (which I feel knocks out the 'it was an accident' theory).

TV these days has gotten nasty. It's alright to have a reality show that for all purposes takes advantage of people and puts them in bad situations and our kids watch. It's alright to show women wearing less in full view during dinner. It's alright to show all this, but be damned if you'll show a flash of tit during halftime.

I think the shock has taken over and gotten out of control. Madonna and Ms Spears tangle deep tongue (Britany 'Oh I had no idea' really so that's why you shoved your tongue down her throat?) but that's ok.. Janet has a half second of fame and the world errupts.

Im lost.

What's the difference..?

SkinaMax has shown porn for years and no one cares cause ... what?.. you don't see d*ck? I don't get it. I've flipped channels and found myself watching gay men go at it for a sitcom (Queer as folk, I think). But that's ok. I flip around some more and see people eating worms, raw eggs and jumping from speeding boats. Great lessons for my kids.

I don't know how parents do this anymore. From the Thong Song to Survivor Tv just sucks lately.

Janet.. please that news is so yesterday!
It wasn't THAT big of a deal.. barebreasted would have been shocking... this was ..
well .. it was just Sad.

JMHO

When the top movie out is 'You've been served' and top music is all about calling women B*tches and Whores and how to do it good and blah blah blah cursing blah blah.. and when clothes designs are dictacted by hip hop artist and mimic Gang lifestyles and when being cool means looking scary and dangerous... what do you expect to see on TV?

I dont know how people are saying that this was supposedly an accident. 'Im gonna have you naked by the end of this song' Boob pops out...uhhh...not an accident to me??

No matter what, I think it was so wrong and distasteful! Yes, television is bad these days and there are so many things on television I dont agree with but like many others have said..this was the halftime show. I sat in my living room with 7 15 year olds with their tongues hanging out and all they could talk about all night was Janets boob. The superbowl lost meaning to them cause they wanted to get home knowing that the internet would have pictures up all over which of course it did.

I have always liked Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake but after last night, I have lost a lot of respect for the both of them. Everything is about sex nowadays and I never thought I would sound like my mother but being on the verge of having my own children, it makes me sick!

I guess to each his own but I mean do you watch Tv like satc or friends those shows arent of great value either, I think it's the media in generak all i know is that they can put whatever they want on TV it's up to me to instill values and things in my child.

Of course to each his/her own..

And yes there are tv shows that you know will have subject matters or segments that are not suitable for a child and of course the parent will be instilling their child with morals and values, I would hope every parent would...

But thats just the point..obviously we know that satc and friends and other shows like that have subject matters that children should not be subjected to...so a parent trying their best to be a good parent knows to keep this away from their kids if thats their choice and what they think is right...you expect it from those shows, we all know what they are about..

but halftime at superbowl?!?!? I can instill all the values in the world to my child but that wouldnt mean I would ever say..ok we are not watching the biggest football game of the year because Janet Jacksons breast will be exposed on national television. I shouldnt have to say that! How in the world is one supposed to know or expect that at a football game? IMO...I will dedicate my life to my children and raising them the right way when its my time but with stunts like last night, it doesnt make it very easy for a trying parent to succeed.

Personally i think it was a stunt and i have lost respect for Janet. I think that she has an album coming out and a performance on the Grammys. I think that this was all done to promote herself and i am sad.
And just curious if the outfit was only meant to rip the outer layer was was the inner layer made with velco as well? Hmmm

I was disgusted..no matter what tv is like now a days. CBS, NBC, ABC are not that low.

I don't know, it was uncalled for, but I didn't think it was the worst thing in the world. I mean, the way they were dancing and nelly grabbing himself would have clued me in that maybe it's not a great idea for my kid to be watching it. Half the songs were about being naked. It's not like her shirt flew off during an appearance on Sesame Street.
Also, how come nobody has a problem with the million and five 'erectile dysfunction' commercials? They seemed to be on during every commercial break. How do you explain THAT to a child?

The website where I work reviewed the new Britney CD for an online article -- my friend Kevin wrote the review -- and every single one of her songs has about FIVE or SIX writers, and NONE OF THEM ARE BRITNEY!!

They don't sing, they don't write ... and without all the makeup, they ain't so cute either!!!

I'm a HUGE fan of Stevie Nicks -- who, I admit when thru her own rough addiction years LOL -- but through it all, she never lost or sacrificed her art or integrity.

I also love Norah Jones, another talented singer/songwriter.

LOL and lets not forget..
'although unusual, if you should have an erection for longer than four hours you should seek medical attention'

I just got this image of a guy walking in saying.. 'Uhm.. it's still here and it's been four hours!'

I am disgusted with this incident and all TV of this nature. I don't watch MTV ever, If its on for more than 3 minutes I can feel my brain cells dying. There was no need to bare breast on a prime time sporting game, save that for the MTV music awards... I agree w/ the fact that it shows young kids and teens that its OK for someone to rip your clothes off. Not like everything in the media and magazines doesn't already imply that that type of stuff is OK. Shows that if you bare your body it will get you attention, and young ppl dont understand that it's the wrong kind of attention. It all stems from low self esteem IMO.
The music today does suck...anyone notice that all the songs that were performed were all at least 6 months to 1-1 and 1/2 yrs old? All they do is STEAL beats from other songs and make a new song...there is no innovation.
The media trys to tell us who is sleeping w/ who and who won an award for acting and this and that, to divert attention from all the problems in the world. Who cares about 7 more soldiers in Iraq dying or 200 ppl trampled in Hajj, when you can see Jants NIPPLE?

It's expected by parents that MTV will push buttons everytime the awards show airs. So it's expected that parents shouldn't let their kids watch it. It's expected that the new season of the Real World with try to top the last, and again, that your kids shouldn't be watching it.

It's expected that at 11:30 on most nights, Cinemax will air stupid soft porn flicks that kids shouldn't be watching, and that parents should see to it that they don't.

It's expected that when the entire nation collectively sits down to watch the Superbowl, a FOOTBALL GAME, that the halftime show in previous years was G rated, be G rated again.

It's expected that MTV can't be trusted to do anything positive with the time they are given on network television, and it's expected that pop stars will ALWAYS only think of themselves.

And, I expect that the networks will let them get away with it again, because there is plenty-o-money in all this complete bull-sh**.

Wow Misty!! I could not have said it better!!! PERFECT!
