once, I took it at 16, but I had actually started driving solo when I turned 15...now 15 seems so young to me, but I use to take the car everywhere..I bought my first car when I was 15, a 1984 Grand Marquis..I had saved all my babysitting money. My little brother was in the hospital for 2 months and my mom lived there with him, my dad worked all the time, so I just started driving around..we had just moved to florida and had no relatives down there. Once I started driving, I never stopped even when my brother got out of the hospital

I don't know if they're making ti more tough, but a lot of people are telling me it's tougher. I got my license 5 years ago and at that point I was just about the ONLY person I knew to pass it on the first shot

really?
I was one fo the few NOT to pass it ont he first shot. execpt one of my best friends & he had failed twice, but still got his icense before me, so of course he mocked me too.
MY DH failed twice, and he was OLD! He was 20 or 21 when he took it.

i passed it the first time Baby! i went behind harrows in centerreach thats where they had the driving lessons and i did everything Right. i can out to tell mom and she started crying on me. sheesh than she said i owed her lunch because the deal was if i didn't pass she would treat me to lunch and if i passed i had to treat her, which was fine because she is the one who taught me to drive and had the patiences to go out with me.![]()

Once. The middle of a dam noreaster..Rain, thunder, lighting,,etc..
I thought I failed cuz I forgot to switch gears for a quick second and she caught me..'Hon, watch your gears'..then she started to stamp the papers. I was upset cuz I really thought I failed, but I was soo glad I was wrong.![]()

Twice...it was the first thing I had ever failed in my life, and I remember thinking it was the end of the world! ![]()
Now, as I deal with this internship nightmare with a relatively cool head, it amazes me how we react to things as adolescents!

But in my own defense, I had really bad nerves in front of strangers that are there to judge me. It was like stage fright. I was so scared of being in the car with the DMV person.
I the first time because my driving instructor decided to tell me that I couldn't use my passenger side mirror to parallel park on the way to my road test. She only taught me to parallel park WITH the mirror.
The second time was because I 'waited too long to make a turn at an intersection - I hesitated' but a car wasn't coming so I don't see what the problem was with being too cautious![]()
