In some Italian families, its good luck if it rains on your wedding day. Not sure if this is true or just made up to make brides feel better!!?!?

I was always told to give a penny for every point given. So a penny for a knife or a pin (jewelry) or scissors.

I have also heard that you shouldn't use scissors or a knife to cut the ribbons on gifts boxes. It is supposed to mean breaking ties or something...

At my bridal shower they would not let me use anything sharp to open up my gifts. I had tons of tiny little cuts on my hands when I was done!

ive heard no pearls!!

for every pearl that a bride wears, it will be a tear that she sheds during her marraige.

(i was going to wear pearls, but my mom and grandma had a fit- italian! )

so i am wearing diamonds, to keep the peace of course!

I don't know about knives but you are never ever supposed to undo a bow or ribbon, you have to slip it off the box and not break it. You should never rip wrapping paper.. I don't remember why. I will google it.l

No Knives, Please

In the Jewish tradition, it's bad luck to receive knives as a wedding gift. In case someone should give knives, the bride should transform the exchange into a financial transaction by giving a penny or nominal sum for the knives.

Hang Gift Bows over Door

I heard from a friend that you the couple should hang all the gift's bows in a bunch over the front door for a year. It brings good luck.
