Spinoff: Long Distance Relationship? Come Play The Game!

Ok... the question came up as to what would be considered 'too far' to date somebody.

Who here had to travel some distance to see their FI's before you got engaged, decided to move in together, etc.

Are you one of those people that 'racked up the mileage' on your car to see a happy ending?

I'll start.

I lived in Bayside Queens, my FW lived in Riverhead.

One-Way Mapquest miles: 62.71

We now live together.

Dh lived in Florida and I lived in New York...man that stunk and I am sooo glad it is over.

I grew up in Woodside also. Where in Woodside did you live?

I was by Queens Blvd and 60th street.

I was closer to Sunnyside 48th street and 48th Ave

I lived in Riverhead

FH lived in Tyngsboro,MA

We saw each other every other weekend, and didn't live together until we got married. We racked up A LOT of miles driving to see each other.

When DH and I first started dating we lived 41.52 miles apart, 1 hour 17 minutes (according to good ol mapquest).

Apparently we couldn't handle the commute since we moved in after a month of dating.

There is a guy at my compnay who has a GF in Florida. He flies down to Florida every weekend to see her!

NO WAY! that is crazy in love! how does he afford that every week? my goodness...

I can't compare to some of you ladies, but I'm proud to say that FH and I are the only couple our age that we know that made it through the college years and stayed together.

Year 1: We were both in H.S., lived <2 miles from each other. (This is the case now too!) When he grad H.S., he went to Farmingdale for a year (I was a senior) so we were still close.

Year 2: FH went to Cortland and I went to Albany. My family was 3 hrs in one direction (5 hrs by bus or train) and FH was 3+ hours in the other direction (also 5 hrs by bus/train.) That was rough!

Years 3 & 4: FH was still in Cortland (300 miles away) and I was here on L.I. (parent's home) I went up a total of 5 times in those 2 years, and he was home asa often as he could be.

Year 5: FH and I are back to our parents' homes, less than 2 miles from each other...and this is how we'll be til we're married. I'm so glad our parents are letting us stay at home so we can save more $$$, but I miss sharing a bed with him.
