I know what those few Americans did was wrong. Im not saying it was right. I'll just say I have mixed feeling about it.

But to annouce it and shove pictures all over America it was BOUND to get a response. Im not surprised at all. I feel like those who were so fast to gain Buck$$ on 'showing the truth' to america (aka the Media) is to blame.

I KNOW im gonna say this wrong but... I'll try. Showing Americans that other Americans are evil and bringing constant public Media attention to the reprimands of the government and other officials who probably have no direct immediate control over those soldiers does nothing for the Country's moral and only fuels the anger of those who hate us already.

Im not saying hide the truth, just be responsible with it and understand that clogging our minds with this 'American Abuse' crap is gonna have consquences!

It sux they beheaded an American in retailation. I feel especially bad for those over there who are probably thinking 'Crap now they think we are all killers'.

I agree with you about the media. All I can think about is the poor guys family having to watch every news channel post pictures of their son and brother two minutes before he was beheaded. I think the media absoluteley sucks.

Agreed. Today, I saw a photo in the newspaper of that poor guy's Dad sitting on his front lawn, sobbing. It made me want to cry.

I read the article about Nicholas Berg and the first thing I thought about was seeing his family on tv not too long ago - they were so happy to hear that he was alive and that the captures were looking to negotiate. Breaks my heart.

But I do not soley blame the media for this - the fault lies with so many people. Both sides continue to do things that I don't agree with in the name of war. Each one thinking that their behavior is condoned - where does it end? I agree that Nicholas' fate may have determined the moment he was captured but I can't help but wonder had those US soldiers not been so arrogant and abusive that perhaps the outcome might have been different. I don't think we can blame the media for making the public aware of the abuse - those soldiers acted in such a reprehensible manner and should be held accountable for their behavior. They would have found out with or without the media. No - beheading someone is not technically the same as sexually abusing and embarrasing someone - but in the end it's all wrong. We should not minimize one person's pain over another. This whole thing has me sick - this war is turning into a nightmare. I agree with the person above - Bush seemed to have his sight set on Iraq right after 9/11 - almost like a hidden agenda was unfolding. I question the US going into Iraq - what happened to going after Osa Bin Laden? Seems like the focus turned to Saddam very quickly - too quickly. This is just my opinion and I respect the opinions voiced so far - thank you for sharing your perspective - it helps me to understand a lot more too.

Two points jump to my mind--

1.) I think Bush had a score to settle with Saddam after he had tried to have his father Bush Sr. killed. I think 9/11 may have served up a golden opportunity for that.. But also.. saddam was a monster.. who knows what he was planning.. none of us never will.. any man who gases his own people deserves to be taken out and hopefully he will burn in hell.

2.) We're still in Afghanstan after Bin Laden.. we don't hear much about it now.. there aren't any naked phots to show right now. We will nail Bin Laden soon or later. (I think it might be sooner since that would be a great distraction from the naked Iraqi guys.)

We did go to Afghanistan right after 9/11 and took out the Taliban.

Because they actually were harboring the terrorists that struck us. Think of it as Al Queda being the Taliban's army in a way.

Bush's war in Iraq was to finish a job that his daddy couldn't do. There were never any WMD's. The guy has successfully made the world hate us, over nothing. If the war was for oil, he failed miserably on that too, $2.15 a gallon.

Just to further clarify, I think Saddam is a POS that deserves whatever is coming to him.

How would you like it if a country invaded the USA and said Democracy has got to go? That they had a better government? Would you defend your country?
These militants are brainwashed. Like i said they were born and breed to be like this. They know no other way of life. And then what about the innocents...too bad, they are at the wrong place at the wrong time?

I hope another country wouldn't look at what OUR IDIOT GI's did and say...OMG we better kill them all!

Superbly put! There are all types of militants and the men who cut this poor man's head off are obviously very misguided about their beliefs. Most Iraqi's hate us and will do whatever it takes to get rid of us. I hate that people think that dropping the A-bomb on the middle east will solve anything. I stand behind what you said 100%!!
