Spinoff of Laura's 'Ed' thread... Anyone feel their DH...
Original post by joeslauren
Can be just a little more romantic? Joe can be... sometimes... but I think he could be a lot more.. and more often! He says 'it wouldn't be ME' if he were. Nice excuse! Try again buddy!

I gotta say that my husband is the most romantic guy in the world!! (or at least to me ) he is awesome.. He's always surprising me with floral arrangements, candy, clothes, cards, get-aways.. he is amazing.
Just this past weekend he surprised me with a nights stay at the Waldorf Astoria, champagne and all, tickets to Blue Man Group and dinner at La Mela and we walked by our church where we were married and kissed right in front (it wasn't open when we were there)..
*sigh*

My husband was reading over my shoulder! He knows that he's not romantic! He says 'You knew that when we were dating'

The R is ripped out of Roger's dictionary He thinks b-days and Christmas are the only times he needs to be romantic. He has been getting better these days, so I must give him credit. I don't think the women before me req'd much, so his skills needs quite a bit of brushing up. I will keep him tho'

My DH has really come a long way over the years.
He is much more affectionate and romantic than I am now.

It's so nice to know I'm not alone! DH has never been romantic and I'm not expecting it to happen any time soon, but I still long for it! His idea of romantic is an occasional email or rolling on top of me! I think I've gotten flowers twice is 7 1/2 years. I don't want to complain though because he is so so so good to me and is my best friend.

Romance is definately not his forte! From reading all your responses I just don't think it is in their genetic code!!! I think we equate romance with flowers and candy and candlelite dinners and they think that doing the dishes after you cook gets them off the hook! I say if this is the worst of the problems you encounter in your marriage, then it's all good!

Its never too late to teach an old dog new tricks. Roger was never in to holding hands and greeting with hugs and kisses etc, but when I laid it on him, he cannot help but to reciprocate. You can always show your hubby what you like.

I had to share this with you ladies, as I was reading this thread, Roger just called to say he just wanted to see how his favorite girl was doing I busted out laughing so hard. I said are you sure that is the only reason you are calling??? I think he has been bit by the bug

DDunne hit it right on the nail.
Men have different interpretations of what romance is.

I don't know where he gets it, but my FH is the most romantic guy in the world. He constantly leaves me little love notes on the coffee machine in the morning before work, sometimes when I come home, he is in the kitchen cooking me a romantic gourmet meal. He remembers little things I tell him I like (wow, I guess he really does listen) and then surprises me later. My entire proposal was filled with little details of things I love, just like Ed and Carol. I guess I lucked out with him

Ha!!! My husband has been romantic maybe once in his whole life! Flowers???? Not once not ever!!!! Even his proposal was totally sorrowful! Not only was it not romantic but it was pitiful (can you tell I have issues with this??? )! I have tried. I have hinted, I have given him ideas, I have out and out told him he needs to be more romantic and how to do it and he just laughs at me!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR. If anyone can tell me how to fix this I would totally appreciative!

Oh Shamma, thanks for the suggestion, but I feel I've tried everything! I think at this point I've confused him so he's not sure what to do!

Wendy, I think you have to lead by example.
My DH was never the overly affectionate romantic type. We have been together 10 years and he has changed so much.
I like holding hands so I would always grab his hand, now he is so used to it- he is always the first one to grab my hand.
I use to really love to cuddle in bed, he is like let me sleep, so I would always grab him and lay in is arms, again he came around and NOW he initiates it.
I can name so many things, but the point is I laid the foundation and eventually he came around.
Some people may tell you to just point blank spell it out, but on some people it does not work, sometimes you just have to SHOW.
