Spinoff of only child post .. are you the oldest, middle child, or youngest?

Do you believe your birth order makes any difference in the type of person you turned out to be? There are lots of theories on this.

I'll answer first..

I'm the baby. There is only 2 of us (me and my older brother). There is five years difference between us. He is my best friend and I love him to death .. no jealousy or issues between us. I consider myself very lucky!

I do think I was a more spoiled than he was, but that's mostly because I was the only girl (and only girl grandchild on both sides) .. but not more spoiled because I was the baby, really.

At the same time, my paretns were far more strict with me ..I had many more rules and regulations than my bro ever did! But again, I think that stemmed from being the girl .. not the youngest..

Youngest of two. I ahve an older brother, and because he was the boy he had a later curfew, stuff like that, but he definitly had it worse from my dad then I did.

But my brother would do things to me and get away with it, because i didn't want to get him into trouble.

Youngest of 2....I have an older brother and I def. think I get spoiled more.
My Mom and I are BEST friends and I guess it's just like that with mothers and their daughters....

ETA - We have a good relationship...He was a senior when I was a freshman in HS and he and his friends were 'soooo cooool' and that my life easy
Now that we are older, our relationship has changed...in a good way, to more of a friendship....

I'm the baby.
I have a brother, 3 years older. A lot of sibling rivalry and he was soooooo over protective.
I love him to death but he's still a pain in the butt! He was tortorous and still is! Constantly instigating, hitting me with wet towels, teasing me - he does it for fun, not meanly but it drives me insane - he's 30 years old and I still feel like we're teenagers.
He definately got away with a lot more, being a boy. I thought my parents would go easy on me because I came second, I was wrong!

I'm the oldest. I have a brother that is 18 months younger and a sister who is 4 years younger.

I got it the worst, my little sister got away with so much more

I am the youngest - my brother is 3 years older than me.

I think we were great pals when we were kids (we really played together).

HS was kinda cool - he was a senior when I was a freshman.

I think we have a good adult relationship but I wouldn't say we are 'close'.

I'm the youngest of 2 and the only girl. My brother and I are very close. He was like another father to me growing up (even though there is only 19 mo's between us).

He had the later curfew, but I think I got away with a lot more

I'm the oldest of 2 girls...the 'first child description' usually fits me to a T.

FH is the 6th of 7...not really sure how to read that one. LOL

same here!! its crazy how much more they get to do YEARS before the age at which you were allowed to do it!

i am the baby of 5 children. 2 brothers and 2 sisters. i was treated very differently because i was the baby. i got everything i wanted from my mother and my 1 brother got very jealous and made my childhood hell when he was around. my mother was very protective of me and tried to keep me in the house because my 2 older sisters were so bad, i had no freedom and i wound up moving out of my house at 17, i couldn't take it anymore.

I'm the oldest and had it the worst. Too much responsibility and high expectations.

I'm much more mature and responsible than my brother and sister but that's not always a positive - I'm not as much fun as they are.

I am the oldest of 4. My sister is 4 years younger than me, my brother 5 years younger and my youngest brother and I are 10 years apart.

2nd oldest. 1 older brother, 1 younger brother who lives with me and a spoiled rotten little sister who tries to get all the attention even though this should be my time with a wedding and all....I should like Jan Brady don't I

i'm the oldest of 2, I have a younger brother, we were close when we were younger then drifted and now are getting close again.

She is the poster child for the stereotypical 'dysfunctional middle child,' IMO ..

Poor middle children get such a bad rap, don't they? MY FH is a middle child and honestly he is the MOST well adjusted of his 3 brothers ..

i'm the youngest of 3. my brother is 11 years older, my sister 4. needless to say i wasn't close to my brother as a kid! but now that we are all grown up we are all great friends. we even like to all go on vacations together! and we have a good time when we do, shock of all shocks. i don't think i was anymore spoiled than the other two, but then again i really was a good kid. i was much less the 'typical' teenager (i.e. being embarrassed by parents, on the phone all the time) than my sister, maybe b/c i saw her go through it. or maybe my parents just had the parenting thing down by the time they got to me

That's funny my FH and I are both the 2nd child. I have so much more than all my siblings but the military has definitely helped me get what I have today. No help from parents. Definitely a great success out of my siblings.(toot my own horn!!)
