A 2011 bride was asking if it's too early to book a makeup artists for her Oct. 2011 wedding. She wanted to call and book next month. I don't see a problem with it as long as the makeup artist can book something that far in advance.

Someone, who shall remain nameless, but is looking to start some said it's too early to start planning a 2011 wedding.

I totally disagree. IMO, if you start early, you have an EXCELLENT chance of getting everything you want.

This is my question:

What was the first thing you ladies booked for your 2010 wedding and when did you book it?

We booked our RH in March or April of 2008 for a May 2010 wedding, we then moved the Wedding to July 2010. Never to early to book.

I got engaged in oct 08, and we booked the rh in jan 09, followed by photo in feb 09..I'm getting married in july 10

First thing we booked was our RH in May 09. Then we booked our officiants.

for our April 2010 wedding we booked the RH in December 2008. that was the first thing we booked.

the RH! we booked barely 2-weeks from being engaged! we just knew it was THE one.

the RH!!!! couldn't book anything else until I knew the date of the wedding!!!!!!!!!! we booked it in August (got engaged May 23) so about 2.5 months after getting engaged!!!

i got engaged Dec 31, 2008... Jan 9th 2009 I had my dress...Jan 17th I booked RH

My engagement was pretty short, so we booked the RH first and then in the next month I basically booked all of my other big vendors!!

booked RH first, about a week or so after we were engaged (april 2008). it is never too early!

we booked RH a week after getting engaged... but it was less than a year until the wedding day we ended up picking... we got lucky with our day we were actually looking for november 2010!

since we felt pressured for a june wedding and less than a year within the 3 weeks of being engaged we had:
hall (within the week)
church (same as hall)
photog
limo
DJ

then we took a little break!

The first thing I booked was the ceremony and RH and I did that in Octoboer of 08.

we booked our RH and church in february 2008 for our december 2010 wedding

We booked our RH (ceremony will also be there) in April '09 for June '10.

I waited 3 1/2 months after getting engaged before getting into any wedding planning.

I still have like nothing done.

It is NEVER to early to start planning. I got engaged Jan. '08 and booked my RH six weeks later. I got my dress in Oct. '09. And everyone said, oh you're too early. Well, now that my wedding is 5ish months away, I am SO happy that I booked most things early. Less headache.

First thing I booked was the hall in January 2008 for our July 2010 wedding.

We were originally looking at Oct/Nov 2010 and there were already dates booked!! So its never too early!

Well for me it was a little weird. I went to the church first (didnt want to upset the 'big guy' by booking the RH first). Shocking the church was VERY laid back & suggested we book our RH first & then come back to them w/a date. So we FINALLY booked our RH in August & the day after the church.
