So who's the 'bread' winner - you or the FH?

How has this influenced your 'future' together, if at all?

We make the same base salary now, but my job tends to give bigger bonuses and my salary increases over the next few years. So, right now, we're even, but later I'll make more. To be honest, I don't really think it affects our relationship. FH and I have always dealt with each other as equals - even when we were in school and I had squat. He didn't have much but he had more than me. And it doesn't seem to bother him that I'm going to make more than him pretty soon. FH is a really evolved male specimen, so I'm pretty lucky.

He makes more right now, but that's only because I'm still in school.

While he was in school, he made practically NOTHING, and my $ carried us. That made a dent on my savings.

We both make the same right now, as we're in grad school and hard science pays basically the same in all fields. If we stay in academia, we'll probably have comparable salaries. I wish one of us made more than the other (and I don't care which one of us it is!).

He makes more, a lot more,and always will...thats just the way it is with our professions

He makes like 3 times more than me. I make good money b/c i have my own business plus I work but he brings in the big bucks.

I make more - and it was a minor issue in his mind when we got engaged. He wanted to be in a position where he could easily envision me taking time off to raise future children - but with me as the larger income, it is virtually impossible. Since then he's changed jobs and is much closer to my salary (though I suspect that he'll always be slightly behind me ).

It works for us.

He's in law school, so I definitely am the bread winner. He calls me his sugar momma.

I make more than FH but it is not an issue. We are a team and our money gets pooled and somehow, all the bills get paid



I do not care about the fact that I make more, it means nothing to me.

He's older and has more experience in his field (plus he's a man) so he makes more than I do, even tho I've been working for our company longer. I don't really complain or make an issue of it, he never holds it over me or anything. In fact, somehow, I'm usually the one helping him out financially!!

while we were in college I made more $$ than fh simply b/c I worked more...even when he first started working with his firm I made more...

now, he was about 40% more than I do (I work for the Fed Gov and he's a private industry accountant) I don't expect that it will always be this way, especially when I become Secretary of State (LOL) but right now, I think my salary upsets me more that it upsets him, simply because if I made more we could afford a better house, another car, and still be able to do the extras that we love.

I HATE having to 'settle' for things b/c I don't have the money....I'd rather work 2 jobs than not have what we want in life. it's hard though...and sometimes it really makes me sad. but I keep trucking b/c I know how we are as a couple, and we work and fight to meet our goals, so that's what I intend to do.

He usually makes more since he works overtime and nights.

He's older with more experience, makes more than me, probably always will b/c of the field he's in....pharmaceutical marketing.

I make almost three times as much as FI, and it doesn't bother me or him a bit. When it comes to 'our' things, we tend to split everything evenly and if we're short - I of course put in the extra cash when necessary.

The only people who bring this matter up as a 'problem' are my mother and her sisters.

They think the man should be making more and putting in more....meanwhile, they all make more than their men....

My FH makes about 25% more than I do...but he ends up paying for most of the things anyway.

When we first got together I made more than he did. He recently got a promotion, which put his gross salary even with mine. He has some deductions that I don't have, so his net salary is actually lower than mine. He is due for a raise next month that will put his gross salary above mine, but I don't know exactly what that will do to his net salary.

He makes more than me, but we bring home pretty much the same amount in our paychecks because he maxes out his 401K. I'm bad, I haven't set any retirement funds up yet.
