So who's the 'bread' winner - you or the FH?

How has this influenced your 'future' together, if at all?

For the that makes more than the does he ever bring it up?

his take home pay is higer but my salary with bonuses is higher

Right now my FH is out of work because we don't have a car. But I make enough for us both. My business is booming! In all honesty I always wanted someone to stay home and be with the kids, just NOT me!

He makes slightly more but we are pretty much in the same range. We've both gotten raises or new jobs since we got engaged and are both looking for new ones now. So the only thing it has really done was allow us to splurge on some wedding extras and will allow us to get a bigger apartment than first expected.

the only problem and its a big problem is that i'm paying the majority of the bills, including the wedding.

sometimes, when he complains about not having money and he always has to something to the effect of 'well, you make more than i do'. i hate that.

fh makes about $20,000 more than i do... and we're both fine with that. i'm happy with him having the larger salary, because it will most likely make it possible for me to stay home with our future kids, which we both want. we have a joint account that we pay our bills from, and he contributes more to that because his salary is higher... so as long as the whole thing is fair, its fine

FH makes maybe 10K more than me. It's never an issue. We share everything.

Well I make more but that's because I work in the private sector and have a second job so it seems way more than his but it really isn't, if you compare our two salaries for our '1st jobs', then I only make about $5k more than he does, but his benefit package totally makes up for it.

Yes we have discussed it many many times, not in a bad way, but more for making plans in the future, like the pro's and con's of keeping my job, since a) I can do it from home b) it's a night job, so I can go back to school during the day. c) If we do indeed move upstate or to PA (which is highly likely) then my job will go with me, and he can take time to find something since I make enough to support us while he looks for a new job.

It's interesting, he still views it as 'this is my money, this is your money', it's really the only thing we disagree with, he still feels we should maintain seperate bank accounts and he will give me a check to cover his 'half', which annoys me because we are not roomates, we are husband and wife

The reason this bother's me, is that he is a conservative spender, not really cheap just not overly generous, which helps in general since we are saving to buy our first house BUT, I don't like to feel nickled and dimed to death when we go out to dinner or the movies etc. It's not all his fault either, I know I spoiled him, since I've always been independent and don't expect him to pay, I mean I think in our whole relationship he's paid for something totally on his own a handful of times, we usually go dutch, or one of us pays dinner the other movies and popcorn etc..

Sorry it was so long, like they say money is a touchy subject in every relationship. What's even funnier than anything is that FMIL agrees with me, it's not mine and your's, it's our's! urgh men! LOL

I've been married a while now and as soon as we were engaged we combined almost everything. I got him a credit card under my name...etc..

We both make about the same give or take..he's on commission and salary. We are both fine no matter who makes the money. Yes, there were disagreements in the beginning but over time this has worked itself out.

When we first got engaged he made more. After we got married we evened out a bit.

I don't know what's going to happen if we have kids menaing who will stay home..etc.

He does make more ......but he lets me run the show because I am the saver and he is the spender ....it never really gets brought up at all - he has never made me feel that there is anything wrong with it or that i am not giving enough .....as a matter of fact I help with his paper work and he tells me he wouldnt make what he does if I didnt help -

I make ALOT more than he. Our only concern is when we have kids, if I need to take some time off funds will be tight.

Hopefully his income will exceed mine in the coming years.

He totally makes more. I can't really help it.

I intend to make more after we get married once I get a new job. Probably would have helped to have more money NOW, but I love what I do and where I am and I get a lot of free time to spend with him (great vacation, etc.).

But lately, I really just want to work 3 days a week. Is that normal?

I make pretty good money- but Jake has his own branch of a mortage company and makes in a month or 2 what I make for the year

but I am the one who handles the money- since I have more time

FH makes a whole lot more than me! He makes about 60K more with salary & he gets a bonus 2x a year. He tells me all the time not to worry about it, but it still bothers me sometimes. We also share everything.

FH is an IT specialist running his own business HE makes all the $$$$ I have a reg. job-- thanks to him my salary has increased about 20%-- he pushes me to do better. One of the things I love about him

I make more in base $, but if FH does side jobs, he makes more $$. By next year, he will go back to his own business and make more $$ then me....

I have a great job but FH owns a business and only works full time eight months out of the year and STILL makes more than me. I'm the one with the 401k and benefits though. Once we're married, he'll have my benefits.
