All I have to say is ....to each their own.

I am part of the 'if you got it flaunt it' group.

But I also believe you can flaunt, but flaunt with couth and elegance. Not with pompousness and obnoxiousness(is that even a word)

The smile on your face, the happiness in your heart, is what makes you sparkle, not the diamond.

But the diamond does help!

When this post originally started, I stated 3, and that was that. No flaunting. But when asked, I was all over it. I have the smile, and the happiness, and it was waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy before my diamond.

NO, not at all. i actually told Sean not to buy me one, the money could be better used for something else.

But... I have to admit I'm glad he did get me one... I love it!

This wasn't directed at anyone in particular..just giving my opinion on 'flaunting'.

and it's nice to have something that he worked his arse off for

Agreed....it reminds me of the hardships we had to go through while he was at war....how hard we've worked to come this far.

And if all he could afford was a brass ring, it would still make me happy and remind me of all he worked for.

After all....I was engaged and said yes far before any ring was presented.

Yeah me too... I waited about 7-8 months for mine and I took the chance that it could have never come or something really bad could have popped up and I would have had to just get a plain band or something. It reminds me also that for those 7-8 months we did NOTHING lol no dinners, no dancing nights out in the city, nada!! lol so it was a lot of work and sacrifice

Re: Spinoff to how many carats....

I love my E-Ring and think all the rings posted by the ladies on the site are beautiful not just because of the carats adorned on the ring. But the stories behind them as well. There is nothing wrong with being proud of the symbol of love your FH or you and your FH chose. There is nothing wrong with people asking questions and admiring your ring. The problem comes when your run into people who use the size of their carat to identify or prove the love of their FH. It's a ring with/without your FH loves you and when you look at it or show it to people the first thing that pops into your head shouldnt be MY GOD THOSE ??? CARATS really shine dont they? JMO-

I agree....it has so much meaning to me just because FH picked it out all on his own. It is exactly what I wanted, but if it wasn't, I would love it anyway!

well said

my ring isn't the biggest or the smallest, but I LOVE my ring and what it says!! also, im proud of the fact that matt was able to save and pay for it and not have some huge loan out on a ring we couldn't afford.

i agree. i think sometimes it matters more to them bc they feel like their love is judged by the size of the ring.
How many times I have heard a guy say , 'But I can't afford the ring she really deserves..'
that makes me so sad Especially when I know the girl would marry him not matter what.

Not at all, i didn't even want one, he insisted and I love it, but that has nothing to do with why I am marrying him
