I'm out of invitations? Can it be a telephone invite? A note? What do you think?

I'd try to make it formal at best - maybe just get a small package of generic invites from Target and fill it out with the invite information. That way he doesn't feel like he was cast away from being invited in the 1st place.

If you have an extra invite, I would use that. Otherwise, I think a priest would be the last person to judge you on your wedding invitation. I agree with the last post - send a cheap invite in the mail if you ran out of official invites and call him personally to let him know how special it would be if he could attend....

I wouldn't give an invitation because they may feel that they have to give a gift then. I like the idea of sending them a note.
