Re: spinoff to my rehearsal dinner question
honestly, i dont think so...but you can have something lowkey and cheap
or dont do anything 'formal' and then just head out to a bar or something where everyone will get their own bill.

I'm going to say No b/c although they might know how much you are spending doesn't mean they should have to incur costs for it. And I mean this in the sweetest way ---keep in mind internet posting can come off harsh---- No one told or forced you to spend that much on your wedding it was your decision therefore, if you are hosting/having a RD you have to pay for it.

I really don't think its ok but having a small bbq or something wouldn't be very expensive but still nice.

Re: spinoff to my rehearsal dinner question
i think you should put together something that wont cost much but still provides them dinner... either a bbq like suggested above or something similar.

Re: spinoff to my rehearsal dinner question
Nope, it won't go over well. I know I'd be all 'HUH?!?!' if I was asked to pay my way for a RD. I'd have more respect for a couple if they didn't have a RD than if they asked me to pay my way.
That being said, you can easily do something on the cheap at someone's house. Order a bunch of pizza, make a huge salad, grab a couple of cases of beer, and there you go. You could probably feed a good amount of people for about $200.
