spinoff to Q of the D

Have you had any experiences that make it difficult or impossible for you to trust and/or get close to female friends? or friends in general?

I havent had anything like that. But I do not trust some women (and men) in general when I meet them. It is like this general 'feeling'

um yeah like my ex best friend going psycho on me, kicking me out of her wedding, turning my other friend against me, for no apparent reason than she was jealous. so she said years later when she profusely apologized in an email. I was like no thanks, crazy.

i do believe guys as friends are easier to trust and there is so much less b.s. with them.

ETA: except when they end up trying to get in your pants

Re: spinoff to Q of the D

i have an overwhelming fear of rejection which makes it hard for me to make new friends in general. it's very hard for me to make contact with people that i'd like to hang out with. i feel like if i call people or contact people, they'll wonder why i'm calling them - that if they really wanted to hang out with me, they'd let me know, and that all i'm doing is bothering them. does that make sense? i went through this w/ DH at the beginning of our relationship - he'd always call me, and i would never call him. it took me over 3 months to just call him on my own. even now, there are people i'd like to call/contact, but i don't because of this fear.

i cannot believe i just admitted this on a public forum.

Yes.

A very close friend of mine lied to me about being raped. She did it to 'test' (or so I was told by others) our friendship.

It really made me second guess myself as a person, a woman (in the sense that am I sensitive to other women's experiences, can I place myself in their shoes... make sense?), and a friend. It also kept me from putting myself out there to the people around me.

I'm over it now... I've learned to look at the source, KWIM - looking back at this person who lied, it was no surprise she did what she did, but I can't stand that she made me hold back in helping the people that might have needed me... if that makes sense.

i think i've always been kind of a no holds barred kind of chick----i was a tomboy growing up and i would much rather swig from a beer bottle in a sports bar than sip a cosmo at a NYC hot spot......so having a lot of female friends really never interested me. since i was always around the guys and buddies with them....i was always looked at by girls (especially the guys girlfriends) as someone to worry about or something.

Someone who needs a LOT of attention and reassurance that her friends are, in her mind, true friends.... even though, ironiclly enough, she doens't know the definition of a true friend.

I stopped speaking with her for other reasons long before I found out about the faux-rape.
