Spinoff to recipe thread... 'Must have' kitchen appliances?
Sorry to go all domestic on your @sses.. but the subject of 'Mini Preps' came up in the recipe thread as a 'must have' kitchen appliance.
I want to go register soon and I never really thought about these things..and don't have much more than a blender.
What else should we be registering for to complete the perfect kitchen.

Good knives (I prefer Wustof), Kitchenaid mixer, and a grill pan. Those are my must haves.

A good set of Knives. Good set of pasta pans..be sure you have at least one 12 qt.
A big colander.
Cutting Board.
I'm a big fan of the mini prep. A kitchenaid mixer is fab but depending on how much you cook or bake, you may not use it alot.
Some bake ware
A good toaster a good coffeemaker
a nice big crock pot.
i can go on and on.......love kitchen stuff!

You know how much I LOVE my mini prep...
But I also wouldn't want to be without my cast Iron skillet and cast Iron dutch oven.
Like everyone else has said - Knives are a must have! Good ones.
I love my pepper grinder and my olive oil bottle.
My banana tree saves me from bruised fruit.
And - if you can get it - the FoodSaver. It is great. you can vacuum pack individual sized portions of dinner and eat your left overs months later for lunch. HUGE time saver and great money saver.

Is it kind of like a Magic Bullet?

Magic bullets for chumps and lightweights! You need the Cuisenart!
Just kidding! I never have used a magic bullet - but it is the same basic concept... less 'gadgety'. Used for prepping food... not much else.
